At Adyen, we build real-time, mission-critical systems that power financial products at global scale. Foreign Exchange (FX) is one of the most impactful and complex domains within our financial platform, contributing around 10% of Adyen’s annual net revenue. Our FX team is at the forefront of shaping this rapidly growing area, helping our Treasury team manage Adyen’s financial operations, and at the same time, also deepening the capabilities of all the rest of our financial products by enabling FX features on them.

As Engineering Manager of the FX team, you’ll join a strategic part of our business at a time when we’re scaling our financial products for the next phase of growth. What You’ll Do:

• Lead and grow a team of software engineers working on our FX capabilities, including rates management, trading strategy configurations, and multicurrency accounts.
• Drive the delivery of complex projects such as FX for Embedded Banking, Swap Trading for Treasury, and end-to-end FX trade settlement.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Treasury, and other engineering teams to align technical solutions with business needs and long-term platform goals.
• Own the technical vision for FX systems, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and built for productization.
• Build and maintain a culture of high performance and growth through mentorship, feedback, and clear direction.
• Operate autonomously and proactively, identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and executing cross-functional initiatives.
• Contribute to Adyen’s broader financial strategy by ensuring FX is not just a backend service but a compelling product component.

Who You Are:

• You have 2+ years of experience with HR responsibilities and a proven track record of leading high-performing engineering teams.
• You bring a strong foundation in software engineering, with deep system design skills and hands-on experience in technologies such as Java, Postgres, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Redis.
• You think strategically, able to connect business goals with technical execution, and design systems that scale with the company.
• You’re a clear communicator and influencer, comfortable navigating cross-functional dynamics and driving alignment.
• You’re proactive and self-driven, with a natural ability to identify what needs to be done, even through ambiguity.
• You’re energized by complexity and curious about the mechanics of financial systems. Experience with FX instruments is a strong bonus.
• You bring positive energy to the team, able to challenge constructively, foster collaboration, and drive engagement.
• You come from a high-paced, product-oriented environment.
