Head of Treasury

Adyen navigates a period of significant growth and market expansion,and with that, our financial strategy must be as dynamic and innovative as our business. We are looking for a visionary Treasury leader to enhance our global treasury function, transforming it from a traditional operational role into a strategic and data-driven engine for growth.

You will be responsible for architecting and executing a world-class treasury strategy that ensures financial stability, optimizes capital structure, and maximizes liquidity. This is not a role for a caretaker; we are seeking a leader to build scalable processes, leverage cutting-edge technology, and partner with the leadership team to support our ambitious long-term goals.

You will report directly to the SVP, Merchant Finance and Treasury, and partner closely with leaders in Finance, Legal, Commercial teams and Operations to drive cross-functional alignment and execution. You will also be a key voice in our senior leadership team, making critical decisions that shape the company’s future.

What you’ll do

• Define a transformative treasury strategy: Architect and champion the global treasury vision, steering the function toward a proactive, strategic, and technology-enabled future. You will lead the development and execution of strategies for cash management, foreign exchange, liquidity and risk mitigation, ensuring we are prepared for both opportunities and challenges.
• Drive business outcome: Define, track, and relentlessly pursue key metrics that reflect financial health and operational efficiency. You will be a key partner in unlocking growth by ensuring the company has the right capital structure and liquidity at all times.
• Lead focused execution and drive adoption: Collaborate closely with Finance, Accounting, Tech, Product and Operational teams to implement robust treasury management systems and processes. You will directly manage our banking and central banking relationships, negotiate favorable terms, and build frameworks to ensure the entire organization understands and adheres to our financial policies and controls. You will also be responsible for guiding and mentoring the treasury team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
• Mitigate financial risk: Proactively identify, assess, and manage financial risks, including interest rate, foreign exchange, liquidity risk and counterparty risk. You will be responsible for safeguarding the company’s balance sheet while enabling healthy business growth.

Who you are

• A seasoned finance people leader with a proven track record of leading treasury or corporate finance functions through periods of hypergrowth and international expansion. Looking for 15+ years of Treasury experience and 7+ years of people leadership experience
• A strategic and forward-thinking leader with an automation mindset, adept at leveraging technology to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and drive a data-driven approach to financial management.
• Deeply strategic, with a demonstrated ability to think long-term and translate complex financial markets and regulatory landscapes into actionable business strategies.
• A data-driven Leader adept at using financial modeling and data insights to inform decisions, challenge the status quo, and measure execution effectiveness at scale.
• Experienced in building and leading high-performing, distributed teams, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and collaboration across the organization.
• A highly technical professional with a strong understanding of financial instruments, capital markets, and treasury management systems. Relevant certifications like CFA, CTP, or an MBA are a strong plus.
