We are at the forefront of building the future of payments, a rapidly changing industry. We approach projects as an opportunity to exceed our customers’ expectations - designing the right experiences, at the right time, the right way. We ensure that Adyen stays a leader and disruptor in the global payments industry by bringing the customers (whether shopper or business) into the center of our product and business decision making.

About the team and role

Adyen is looking for a Product Designer to join our Financial Products team in Chicago. We are responsible for building the financial backbone for the world’s leading platforms.

As the lines between payments and banking blur, Adyen offers financial products like Accounts, Capital, and Issuing to enterprise platforms. In this role, you will connect high-stakes financial flows where precision is critical. You will translate complex business logic into trustworthy, well-crafted solutions for our business banking customers, while contributing to our design system and operational excellence.

What you’ll do

  • Design & Execute: Take ownership of design projects from concept to hand-off. You will translate complex user needs and business requirements into clear, intuitive flows and interfaces, including AI features that will drive more value for our customers.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Product Managers and Engineers to ensure designs are feasible, viable, and delivered to a high standard.
  • Data-Informed Design: Use qualitative and quantitative insights to validate your decisions.
  • System Thinking: Use and contribute to the Adyen design system, ensuring consistency across our product suite while identifying areas for improvement.
  • Communication: Clearly articulate your design rationale to stakeholders and the wider team, and use the feedback to iterate and improve your work.
  • Process Improvement: Help maintain a high bar for quality by participating in design reviews, critiques, and knowledge-sharing sessions. Share and collaborate on improving workflows using LLM tools.

This is you

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Product Design, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience: 3-5 years in product/UX design, ideally within SaaS, B2B/Enterprise, or complex digital products and workflows.

Craft: You have a strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to solve functional problems in complex spaces. You can translate strategy into solutions that are strong, scalable and considered at system level.Curiosity: You are eager to learn about the payments industry and financial products, and to follow industry trends and innovations.

  • Collaboration: You thrive in team environments. You are proactive in reaching out to engineers and PMs to unblock yourself and keep projects moving. You can contribute to an environment of healthy and respectful debate.
  • Action-Oriented: You focus on delivering value. You balance the need for exploration with the need to ship and learn.

Compensation

  • The base salary for this role in Chicago ranges from $154,000 to $208,000 plus RSUs.
