The Company You’ll Join

Carta connects founders, investors, and limited partners through world-class software, purpose-built for everyone in venture capital, private equity and private credit. Trusted by 65,000+ companies in 160+ countries, Carta’s platform of software and services lays the groundwork so you can build, invest, and scale with confidence.

Carta’s Fund Administration platform supports 9,000+ funds and SPVs, representing nearly $185B in assets under management, with tools designed to enhance the strategic impact of fund CFOs. Recognized by Fortune, Forbes, Fast Company, Inc. and Great Places to Work, Carta is shaping the future of private market infrastructure.

Together, Carta is creating the end-to-end ERP platform for private markets. Traditional ERP solutions don’t work for Private Funds. Private capital markets need a comprehensive software solution to replace outdated spreadsheets and fragmented service providers. Carta’s software for the Office of the Fund CFO does just that - it’s a new category of software to make private markets look more like public markets - a connected ERP for private capital.

The Problems You'll Solve

Carta provides the infrastructure for private capital. Policy is infrastructure. It can accelerate innovation or constrain its growth. At Carta, we believe smart policy expands ownership and fuels innovation across the economy.

As a Public Policy Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in public policy, government affairs, and strategic communications at a high-growth technology company that is driving the future of private capital. During this 10-week internship, we are looking for proactive candidates who are eager to learn how policy intersects with innovation, entrepreneurship, and private capital to support our efforts to lower barriers, expand access, and strengthen private capital. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and thrives in environments where "fast-paced."

You will bring a creative, execution-oriented mindset to supporting efforts to advance Carta’s policy priorities—The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, and thrives in environments where "fast-paced." You are a holistic thinker who is excited to learn how different event strategies complete the user journey. Above all, you possess an "owner mentality"—no detail is too small if it means delivering a delightful and enriching experience for our customers and prospects.

During this 10-week internship, you will help the policy team stay organized, informed, and responsive in a fast-moving regulatory environment. In this role, you will:

  • Legislative tracking: Support tracking federal and state legislative and regulatory developments that impact private capital
  • Research and analysis: Research and analyze emerging policy issues that impact private markets and innovation
  • Content: Help draft weekly newsletter, social content, and insights on topics impacting private capital
  • Stakeholder management: Support stakeholder mapping and outreach efforts
  • Project management: Coordinate across workstreams to ensure events, content, and other projects stay on track
  • Engagement: Attend congressional hearings, participate in policymaker meetings, and connect with external stakeholders, including trade associations, entrepreneurs, and investors

The Team You'll Work With

As a Public Policy Intern, you’ll support Carta’s Policy team and gain exposure to how a fast-growing technology company engages with policymakers, ecosystem partners, and industry stakeholders to drive policy outcomes to expand access to private capital and bolster ownership opportunities. You will also collaborate across our Marketing team and business units to learn how policy can drive value for our customers: venture capital, private equity, private credit, and the companies and investors they serve.
