We are currently in search of a seasoned Senior AWS Cloud Cost Optimization Developer to become a part of our remote community.

This role involves enhancing the visibility of cloud expenditure by formulating a data-centric strategy for alerting, reporting, and optimizing cloud costs. The perfect candidate will bring hands-on experience in DevOps or SRE, hold a deep understanding of cost analysis and optimization in expansive AWS settings, possess a strong affinity for data analysis, and have the ability to collaborate effectively across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Collaboration with various software development and engineering teams to pinpoint optimization opportunities for maximum ROI on cloud resources, leading to a cost-efficient cloud infrastructure
• Comprehensive understanding of the client’s product, its architecture, deployment in the cloud, and the associated costs for each environment component
• Advising architects and engineers on architecture and resource optimization, waste management, capacity management, and KPI development
• Identification and investigation of anomalies in Cloud costs and usage and tracing their source
• Monitoring of cloud reservation/savings plan utilization and re-purposing of freed capacity in collaboration with teams
• Evaluation and investigation of data patterns and anomalies to extract insightful knowledge for strategic and operational decision making
• Recommendation of savings opportunities in relation to cloud commitment purchases (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot, Committed/Sustained use) and tracking of commitment utilization
• Identification of efficiency areas and development of optimization plans
• Creation, modification, and maintenance of cloud costs and utilization reports, dashboards, and cost usage alerts and forecasts
• Implementation of dashboards and automated reporting for cost and cost compliance
• Participation in the creation, maturation, automation, and governance of Cost Optimization policies and best practices
• Reporting of KPIs and recommended savings opportunities
• Collaboration with engineering teams to ensure cost improvements are functional

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in AWS Cloud Cost Optimization
• Proficiency in AWS Cloud Adoption Framework, AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and Amazon EC2
• Experience with containerization and AWS EKS, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, Amazon CloudWatch, and Smartsheet
• Experience with Python
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to function both independently and as part of a team
• Familiarity with working remotely and in an Agile environment
• Superior verbal and written communication skills in English, capable of engaging effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
