We are currently seeking a committed and dependable Senior Java Developer to become part of our remote team. The ideal candidate will be a results-driven individual who takes ownership of their work. Our client is a world-renowned provider of hotel accommodation services, offering booking options through a comprehensive network of localized websites and call centers. As a member of our team, you will be instrumental in developing the technology that helps millions of travelers secure the ideal hotel for their unforgettable journeys.
Responsibilities
- Cater to the data requirements of the client's product and business teams on a global scale
- Create reliable, scalable applications of exceptional quality using best-practice methodologies
- Foster robust relationships with internal stakeholders from the engineering, product, and business sectors
- Deliver high-performance code for a distributed service-oriented architecture environment
- Be an active participant in an agile team that continually learns and evolves
- Use real-time data to gauge performance and ensure system scalability
- Prepare apps and services for cloud deployment via containerization
- Create fast, scalable, and reliable software that offers real-time feedback loops for all client properties
- Streamline the core property status workflow to improve user experiences
- Scale both private and public APIs to enhance user interface experiences for internal and external partners
- Own backend development, building applications from the ground up to completion
- Build and maintain top-quality software using premier tools such as Git, Splunk, Datadog, New Relic, etc
- Participate in resolving production issues and spearhead efforts toward solutions
- Proactively seek opportunities to showcase your work on our tech blog and at internal and external conferences
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- At least 3 years of experience in developing data and software solutions
- Proficiency in Spark and associated Big Data technologies
- Expertise in programming languages such as Java or Scala
- Experience in building data pipelines in cloud environments with tools like S3, Hadoop, Hive, and managing Petabytes of data
- Proficiency in streaming technologies such as Kafka
- Initiative in finding solutions for data engineering challenges
- Ability to see individual tasks through to completion and production deployment
- Ability to collaborate closely with team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality data solutions
- Experience with both classic and NoSQL databases systems such as Elasticsearch and Cassandra
- Experience covering all aspects of data systems including database design, ETL, aggregation strategy, performance optimization
- Experience working with a variety of tools like Airflow, Splunk, Datadog, Docker, Jenkins
- Fluency in English communication
