Our remote team is in search of a Middle Java Developer who can create quality scalable, tested, and reliable applications utilizing industry-standard methodologies.

You will be part of our agile team, working closely with internal partners from various departments including engineering, product, and business. Your role will involve making use of real-time data to comprehend performance and ensure system scalability, as well as aiding in the resolution of any production issues.

Responsibilities

• Creation of quality scalable, tested, and reliable applications utilizing industry-standard methodologies
• Sustained collaboration with internal partners from engineering, product, and business
• Delivery of tested and optimized high-performance code for a distributed SOA environment
• Active participation in an agile team that constantly learns and improves
• Utilization of real-time data to comprehend performance and ensure system scalability
• Containerization of apps and services for cloud deployment
• Development of fast, scalable, and reliable property status software including real-time feedback loops for all properties
• Simplification of core property status workflow to enhance user experience
• Scaling of private and public APIs to enhance UI experiences for internal and external partners
• Ownership of backend development, building applications from concept to completion
• Participation in the resolution of production issues and leading efforts toward solutions
• Seek opportunities to showcase work on our tech blog and at internal & external conferences

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related field; or equivalent related professional experience
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Java and streaming technology such as Kafka
• Minimum of 2 years in developing data and software solutions
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Spark
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in building data pipelines in the cloud with tools like S3, Hadoop, and Hive; working with Petabytes of data
• Proactive approach in seeking out solutions for data engineering problems
• Developer with a strong sense of ownership
• Ability to drive individual tasks to completion and production deployment
• Ability to work closely with team members to ensure data solutions are well-built and of high quality
• Experience in classic and NoSQL database systems such as Elasticsearch and Cassandra
• Experience with all aspects of data systems including database design, ETL, aggregation strategy, performance optimization
