Responsibilities
- Configure enterprise or service provider-grade network hardware
- Automate cloud IaaS networks
- Demonstrate intermediate to expert level skills in routing protocols such as OSPF, MPBGP, ISIS, MPLS
- Understand physical and virtual network technologies and how they interoperate
- Incorporate the most appropriate model for given technologies into designs to observe network behavior and performance
- Make well-defined technology choices and communicate in business terms to impacted stakeholders
- Support PCI compliance issues
- Partner proactively with peers across the organization to understand cross-dependencies and shared problem-solving
- Create clear, concise, and organized communication, including documentation, policies, and presentations
- Develop system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation to secure systems
- Facilitate collaboration with different stakeholders to develop effective solutions to issues
- Stay apprised of emerging technology trends and best practices that could potentially benefit the organization
- Investigate a range of issues or incidents by gathering and analyzing information, documenting insights and findings on the underlying cause, circumstances, and contributing factors, and suggesting necessary actions for resolution
- Mentor other engineers (Individual Contributor I, II, III) and serve as an expert for a given domain
Requirements
- 5 + years of relevant professional experience
- Intermediate to expert knowledge of models used to show network state and for configuration (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, IPFIX, etc.)
- Expertise in configuring, operating, and automating cloud IaaS networks (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Relevant certification (e.g., Cisco CCNP, CCIE, AWS Professional, AWS Network Specialty)
- Minimum 4-5 years of UNIX/Linux system administration experience in a large infrastructure
- Understanding of the relationship between primary services/applications, databases, networking, and technology platforms
- Proficiency in maintaining and troubleshooting DNS
- Firm understanding of Linux internals and experience in UNIX/Linux-based infrastructures
- Good programming skills in scripting languages like Perl/Shell/Python/Terraform
- Experience with automation toolsets such as Chef/Jenkins/Git Hub Actions/Ansible/Puppet/Foreman/MDT
- Familiarity with ITSM tools like Service Now and Jira
- Knowledge of AWS and Load Balancers concepts
- Fluent English communication skills at a B2+ level
- Availability during Central timezone hours with primary on-call rotation of 7 days from 8 AM to 8 PM Pacific time once every 4 weeks
