Site Reliability Engineer (Python) Description

We are seeking a talented Site Reliability Engineer (Python) to join our world-class Site Reliability Engineering team, which manages one of the largest compute infrastructure providers globally.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a premier team responsible for managing Google's internal cluster management platform and migrating various legacy systems to new tools and services. The successful candidate will contribute to a great learning environment by engaging with sophisticated, publicly known distributed platforms at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Migrate legacy deployment and monitoring systems to new tools and services
  • Maintain and refactor various services
  • Collaborate with the SRE team to understand architecture, mechanisms, and interfaces to live systems
  • Get knowledge about proprietary tools used within the Google environment
  • Investigate the current configuration of tools and services
  • Write unit, integration, and functional tests as applicable
  • Create technical documentation
  • Engage with multiple teams within the organization to ensure alignment and efficiency

Requirements

  • Competency in system engineering and core DevOps principles
  • Solid understanding of Linux operations and basics
  • Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting
  • Familiarity with basic network operations and configurations
  • Understanding of various software testing principles
  • Capability to handle ambiguity and work autonomously on tasks defined at a high level
  • Minimum B2/B2+ proficiency in English

Nice to have

  • Skills in Go programming
  • Solid understanding of GCP, particularly IAM management, and Networking technologies
