We are seeking a Lead DataOps Engineer/Release Manager with expertise in Azure Synapse to join our EPAM team in Poland.

The successful candidate will focus on building, automating, and optimizing data pipelines while ensuring seamless data integration. They will also uphold best practices in DataOps to improve data reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain data pipelines using Azure Synapse Analytics and other Azure data services
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for data workflows utilizing Azure DevOps, Git, and Terraform/Bicep
• Optimize data ingestion, transformation, and storage for greater performance and cost effectiveness
• Manage ETL/ELT workflows to ensure data quality and consistency across environments
• Automate data deployment, monitoring, and alerting through Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and DevOps teams to refine the overall DataOps strategy
• Ensure security best practices, including access control, encryption, and regulatory compliance such as GDPR or HIPAA
• Resolve performance bottlenecks in Azure Synapse, Spark Pools, and Data Flows
• Supervise release planning, scheduling, and coordination for data-related deployments
• Implement and manage version control, branching strategies, and rollback options
• Ensure smooth code releases throughout development, testing, and production environments
• Define and enforce release governance, approvals, and compliance standards

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in DataOps, Data Engineering, or DevOps roles
• Expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, and SQL Data Warehousing, alongside Microsoft Fabric
• Proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Power BI
• Background in CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins for data workflows
• Understanding of Azure-native monitoring and logging tools
• Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset

Nice to have

• Azure Data Engineer Associate Certification or Azure Solutions Architect Expert Certification
• Proficiency in container orchestration using Kubernetes and Docker for data workflows
• Familiarity with real-time data processing tools such as Azure Stream Analytics or Kafka
• Skills in automation with Python, PySpark, SQL, or PowerShell
• Capability to utilize Infrastructure as Code techniques with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
• Understanding of Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and Parquet file formats
