Chief Data Engineer Description

We are looking for a skilled Chief Data Engineer to join our remote team and play a pivotal role in creating cutting-edge and scalable data solutions. This position involves leading technical teams, shaping system architecture, and delivering impactful results for complex data-related challenges. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation, proven leadership experience, and a passion for innovation and team development.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement robust and scalable data systems
  • Build and manage data pipelines to ensure high-quality and accessible data
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify requirements and deliver tailored solutions
  • Offer technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams
  • Enhance system reliability, scalability, and performance
  • Promote best practices and ensure the delivery of well-structured, maintainable code
  • Review code and actively participate in technical discussions
  • Engage in pre-sales activities, client collaborations, and rapid-response initiatives
  • Encourage knowledge sharing through meetups and technical presentations
  • Stay updated on advancements in technology and introduce innovative tools and approaches

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Seven or more years of experience as a Data Engineer
  • At least two years of experience in leading teams and managing technical projects
  • Involvement in a minimum of two complete project lifecycles or multiple development phases
  • Extensive hands-on experience in coding and addressing complex technical challenges
  • Expertise in Python for automation, data analysis, and processing
  • Comprehensive knowledge of AWS services for cloud-based data solutions
  • Proven experience with Databricks for advanced analytics and machine learning workflows
  • Strong ability in system design and architecture, balancing strategic vision with practical implementation
  • A history of delivering measurable technical impact across projects and teams
  • Broad understanding of various technical domains and stacks
  • Commitment to mentoring team members and sharing knowledge across the organization
  • Ability to innovate and implement new tools, frameworks, and solutions
  • Flexibility to work across different programming languages, stacks, and areas of expertise
  • Proficiency in English at a B2 level or higher for effective communication

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with technologies for real-time data processing and streaming
  • Understanding of advanced AI and machine learning tools and frameworks
  • Knowledge of serverless computing solutions for efficient data workflows
