Lead Cloud Engineer Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Cloud Engineer to join our team and drive the expansion of our FinOps function.
This role focuses on cloud cost management, delivering decentralized cost control practices across multi-cloud environments, and achieving scalable and sustainable cloud operations. You will champion cost optimization opportunities, collaborate closely with teams across the organization, and promote best practices in cloud infrastructure usage and optimization.

Responsibilities
- Design and oversee cloud architecture to ensure scalability, efficiency, and security
- Drive cloud infrastructure optimizations daily, leveraging FinOps methodologies and principles
- Lead initiatives to ensure multi-cloud cost management remains efficient and controlled
- Advocate sustainability efforts by promoting FinOps and GreenOps principles
- Provide actionable insights for resource provisioning to reduce over-provisioning and optimize cloud spend
- Develop and enhance automation solutions to improve cost optimization, monitoring, and workflow efficiencies
- Collaborate with stakeholders across all levels to define and execute cloud cost management strategies
- Monitor and optimize cloud performance, availability, and cost through tools and data-driven reporting
- Implement and enforce compliance, governance, and security practices across cloud environments
- Document workflows, architectures, and processes to centralize knowledge for cloud operations
- Stay up-to-date with emerging cloud technologies and trends, driving innovation in cost management and sustainability
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, cloud operations, or a similar role
- At least 1 year of relevant leadership experience
- Expertise in cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform, particularly cost management features and functionalities
- Proficiency in resource provisioning, tagging practices, and cloud optimization techniques
- Hands-on experience with scripting or programming languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation
- Skills in querying languages such as SQL or KQL and tools such as Azure Graph
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Familiarity with cloud monitoring and cost management tools like Cloudability, Azure Monitor, or similar
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration tools including Kubernetes and Docker
- Proactive mindset dedicated to learning new technologies and solving complex challenges
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in dynamic environments
- Team-oriented approach with a focus on collaboration and customer success
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in written and spoken English (B2+ level or higher)
Nice to have
- Experience working in Agile teams or applying Scrum methodologies
- Scripting/programming experience (Python preferred)
- Familiarity with APIs for automation and integration
- Knowledge of cloud cost management tools such as Cloudability, Flexera, or similar solutions
- Experience with ServiceNow for process tracking and governance activities
