Design, develop, and enhance services that support BigCommerce APIs, focusing on performance, scalability, and maintainability

Build internal tools that improve efficiency for teams working with APIs

Identify and resolve production issues while contributing to service stability and performance improvements

Document workflows, architectural decisions, and best practices for API infrastructure

Work closely with distributed teams across time zones in both the EU and US

Promote best practices in code quality, testing, and maintainability

Adopt and implement new tools, frameworks, or techniques relevant to advancing projects

Contribute to API architecture improvements with a focus on modernization and extensibility

Collaborate with technical stakeholders to align objectives and influence product deliverables

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering team growth while meeting critical project goals

At least 3 years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on Golang

Proven experience designing and implementing scalable, high-performance, and maintainable system architectures

Strong understanding of HTTP, RESTful API design, and API standards

Deep knowledge of SQL database schema design, query optimization, and experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) or NoSQL alternatives

Proficiency with version control systems like Git, including advanced workflows such as rebasing and resolving merge conflicts

Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code with robust test suites (unit and integration)

Experience troubleshooting and solving complex technical issues in scalable systems

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with distributed teams and manage end-to-end project execution independently

Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in incident resolution and maintaining high service reliability

Experience influencing technical roadmaps and advising stakeholders on technology decisions

Commitment to continuous learning and adopting new technologies and best practices

Fluent in English (B2 or higher) with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences

Experience with technologies like gRPC, GraphQL, MCP; RabbitMQ; Redis; Docker, CircleCI

Familiarity with observability tools such as Kibana, Prometheus, Grafana, or Lightstep

Understanding of issue tracking systems and Agile workflows, including tools like Jira

Experience using cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS) for production deployments and scaling services

Exposure to additional programming languages like JavaScript (Node.js), Scala, PHP, or Ruby, demonstrating versatility across different tech stacks
