Responsibilities
- Architect, configure, and manage complex SQL Server environments including AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Failover Clusters
- Lead major version upgrades, migrations between On-Prem and Cloud, patching cycles, and database consolidations
- Configure and optimize high availability and disaster recovery solutions, log shipping, replication, and backup strategies
- Perform advanced performance tuning using execution plans, DMVs, extended events, profiler, and index tuning
- Implement and validate robust backup and recovery strategies and troubleshoot restore failures
- Perform capacity planning, growth forecasting, and recommend scalability improvements
- Define and enforce security best practices including credential rotations, audit controls, and encryption standards
- Support development teams with schema reviews, stored procedure optimization, and data lifecycle planning
- Validate and execute complex deployments, participate in Change Advisory Boards, and ensure smooth release cycles
- Develop and maintain standards, technical documentation, best practices, and architecture diagrams
- Lead automation initiatives using PowerShell or Python and adopt cloud-based enhancements
- Mentor L2 DBAs and act as technical escalation point for high-severity incidents
Requirements
- Extensive MS SQL Server DBA experience of 6 to 12 years
- Deep understanding of SQL Server internals, storage engine behavior, and indexing strategies
- Strong expertise in AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Clusters, Log Shipping, and Replication
- Expertise in performance tuning using execution plans, DMVs, indexing, and query optimization
- Strong experience with backup tuning, recovery troubleshooting, and handling high-severity incidents
- Strong T-SQL development and scripting skills with PowerShell preferred
- Advanced Windows Server administration skills
- Working knowledge of at least one additional RDBMS such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB
- Ability to lead production crisis calls and collaborate across global teams
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud database platforms such as Azure SQL, Managed Instance, AWS RDS, and GCP Cloud SQL
- Knowledge of Redgate tooling, replication enhancements, and automation frameworks
- Experience with CI/CD integration for database changes
- Familiarity with security standards including encryption, data masking, and auditing frameworks
- Microsoft certifications such as MCSE, DP-300, or equivalent
- Experience with large-scale modernization and cloud migration programs
