The Role
As the Head of Compliance & Merchant Operations, you will be responsible for ensuring Ezypay proactively meets its compliance obligations and has strong operational processes to reduce our risk. You will be based in our Chatswood, Sydney office (with the option of remote working) and will lead and manage a small team who are based in Australia and Malaysia.
As a privately owned business operating across 9 countries, you will be comfortable with complex regulatory obligations and a fast changing environment. You will be key to managing our external relationships with regulators, banking & acquiring partners and card schemes. You will also need to keep across changes to the payments landscape and as such will represent Ezypay through a variety of industry associations and networks. If you know what AFSL, AML, PCI, PayFac and CNP mean, then this might be the right role for you.
Reporting to the CEO and as part of the Executive team at Ezypay; you will have a combination of leadership and strategic planning skills and be just as comfortable with creating an operational process or reviewing a legal document. Being a complex business but not a large enterprise, requires all members of our team to be hands-on.
Although we have been operating for a number of years and have an established team, there are plenty of opportunities to drive change within our organisation and help guide Ezypay through its next phase of ambitious growth.
Main Responsibilities
Identify all key compliance obligations for Ezypay and ensure they are successfully met
Manage the operational processes and team responsible for merchant onboarding, billing & settlement, ensuring effective and efficient processes that manage our risk and meet compliance requirements
Drive engagement with other teams across the business (such as Sales & Marketing, Product & Engineering) to ensure complex compliance obligations are met (eg PCI)
Assist the Sales teams in reviewing custom contracts to ensure risk is managed within a commercially positive framework
Provide strong leadership to the Merchant Operations team; inspiring high performance and driving results
Prepare and present regular, meaningful and accurate management reports
Develop key relationships with external parties including financial institutions, card acquirers, schemes, legal and accounting firms and regulatory agencies
Keep across trends in payments and help shape the strategic direction of the business
Support the CEO and executive team to assess and enter new markets (payment methods, industries and geographies)
Requirements
10 to 15 years of professional experience, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role (payments experience essential)
Sound understanding of compliance frameworks and obligations in a payments environment (multiple geographic experience preferred)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy whilst prioritising multiple deliverables
Record of providing effective leadership and direction to teams (remote management experience preferred)
Strong collaborative ability to persuade, influence and bring together individuals, teams and organisations. Ability to resolve conflict and drive execution.
