Job Summary – Who you are, and what you’ll do
We're looking for an independent, go-getting and ambitious Partnerships Manager to help manage our existing partner relationships and partnership opportunities. Due to significant growth in our partnerships area, this is a rare opportunity to work right at the cutting edge of one of the most important startup sub-sectors in Australia, and the world.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this job will see you work with our corporate partners, industry partners and fintech members to bring value and benefits to the FinTech Australia community. The role is to connect and regularly engage with external partners with our community, to evaluate the benefits each will bring and determine the partnership agreement criteria.
This role is critical to building out the service offering to our members. It is crucial for this person to understand the needs of our members to enlist corporate and industry partners who will be able to assist our members in their mission to grow and scale.
There is a large element of event management in this role as the majority of our partners connect with our members through online or in-person events. The successful person would ideally have an understanding of event planning and a hands-on approach to event management. Support from the operations team will be provided.
Principle Accountabilities
Corporate Partner relationship management
- Responsible for all corporate and industry partner relationships
- Responsible for managing and measuring the success of corporate and industry partner relationships:
- Through servicing KPIs (to be determined alongside GM)
- Through regular feedback
- Continuous monitoring of services offered and evaluation to determine if services are of value
- Successfully connect FinTech Australia members with relevant corporate partners to help build, scale and reach their objectives
- Identify new partnership opportunities and/or other areas of revenue
- Be on the front foot of industry happenings and identify topics/areas that are of interest to members and how FinTech Australia can support them. For eg. regulatory changes
- Lead Partnership projects as assigned
- Keeping up to date with the Fintech industry both nationally and globally to identify new partnerships and areas for innovation and growth
Develop and execute Partnerships Strategy & Program for 2022-23
- Create a 12 month strategy for the overall Partnerships function
- Develop the Partnerships Program for 2023: identify relevant activities, schedule and plan said activities using available resources and timeframe
- Responsible for the overall project management of each element of the Partnerships Program
- Identify any gaps, areas of concern, resourcing in advance of 2023
- Recommend new areas for revenue generation
- Recommend short and long-term goals and objectives to the GM
- Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the Partnerships function
- Keep informed of developments in the Fintech industry and technology space and use this information to help FinTech Australia and its stakeholders operate with initiative and innovation
- Develop and execute key events that bring the community together
Fintech member relationship management
- Ensure services provided are being utilised by FinTech Australia members
- Stay updated on member offerings and developing initiatives that will benefit the members
- Collaborate with the FinTech Australia team through our member engagement strategy to ensure we have high levels of member retention and satisfaction
- Develop a collaborative community environment among our members, corporate partners, regulators and other ecosystem stakeholders
- Help us to grow our membership base and awareness of FinTech Australia’s value proposition, including across broader networks and potential partners.
- Champion the FinTech Australia brand, values, and relevant member brands
- Assist with regular updates and reporting to the Board, FinTech Australia Members and wider Community as required
- Other team initiatives you will play a role in: sales and onboarding calls, newsletters, podcasts, Ausbiz TV episode, events including Intersekt and The Finnie Awards
Corporate Sponsor Relationships Management
- Responsible to engage with potential and current event sponsors to maximise their visibility at the events
- Generate new leads for future sponsorships
- Create new opportunities for sponsors to engage with the community
- Collect feedback and provide insights on how the events can be better executed
Qualifications
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to get right into the thick of one of the fastest growing and most significant areas in the new knowledge economy.
Partnerships or Account Management experience in Financial Services and/or for a Tech Startup is extremely desirable, but not a deal-breaker. Experience in the not-for-profit or coworking space or accelerator/incubator or association sector is also valued.
Required:
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in account management
- Experience in negotiating agreement terms and partner contracts
- Strong strategic, analytical, organisational and personal sales skills
- Experience in developing and managing events
- Computer literacy in word processing and database management
- Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Ability to manage own time, and to manage multiple projects at a time
- Some out-of-town, overnight travel may be required
Other:
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience in account management, business development or relationship management, preferably in the Financial Services or Startup sector (experience in the not-for-profit or association sector is also valued)
- Experience working with interns and volunteers is desirable.
Role Details and Remuneration
This role is for a full-time permanent position pay ranging $85,000 - $110,000, plus 10.5% superannuation.
The role could be based in either Sydney or Melbourne.
