Join Our Team as an Entry Category Buyer – Menswear
Are you passionate about menswear? Do you excel at spotting trends and driving category growth? We’re seeking a dynamic and experienced Entry Category Buyer / Junior Buyer to elevate our menswear categories. This role is ideal for a junior buyer or an experienced assistant buyer ready to take the next step.
As the Entry Category Buyer, you will report to the Senior Category Buyer. You will support department strategy, vision and budget planning, and help the category achieve sales growth in line with our commercial strategy. This role is essential in driving the conception and development of product within your allocated category, always championing innovation and creativity.
About the Role
You will:
- Understand and drive company-wide strategies and OKRs
- Conduct market research to stay up to date with the latest trends and products in e-commerce, making recommendations on product and/or brand selection
- Monitor inventory levels to maintain adequate stock availability
- Evaluate vendor performance and support selection, deactivation and exit processes
- Negotiate favourable commercial terms across both commission-based (Platform) and OTB-based (Wholesale) vendors
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and industry regulations
- Identify emerging trends and source new products that resonate with customers
- Maintain accurate vendor records, including brand plans, SKU lists and department brand profile matrices
- Identify opportunities to improve the onsite customer experience
- Analyse data, interpret trends and make informed, evidence-based decisions
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose effective procurement and platform strategies
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, fostering long-term partnerships
- Liaise on vendor onboarding and provide ongoing support
- Collaborate with key brands to build and optimise assortments
- Manage underperforming brands and propose informed improvement strategies
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, particularly with contract terms and conditions
- Collaborate proactively with Marketing to identify GTM and promotional opportunities
- Develop and implement strategic roadmaps aligned to commercial strategy, brand adjacencies and customer demographics
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders including Marketing, Vendor Management, Operations and Finance
- Communicate clearly, effectively and concisely
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members
- Adapt to changes in the market and industry, remaining open to learning new skills and approaches
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably required
About You
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Junior Buyer or experienced Assistant Buyer in a high-volume business
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs)
- Strong communication skills with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
