Senior Technical Support Engineer
The Senior Technical Support Engineer role is responsible for the design, implementation, development, documentation, testing, and maintenance of infrastructure and services across broadcast, storage, server and network technologies.
This is a full-time, onsite, permanent role. Based in our Melbourne office.
This role is classified as a Level 4 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with an annual base salary range of $96,483 - $103,000). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.
The Role
SBS is offering a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Infrastructure team in our Melbourne Bureau based in Federation Square. As a Senior Support Engineer you will be working with a high-performing team responsible for the smooth running of our technology systems in Melbourne.
Reporting into the Infrastructure Manager (VIC/ACT), this role will see you doing the following:

The Role
SBS is offering a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Infrastructure team in our Melbourne Bureau based in Federation Square. As a Senior Support Engineer you will be working with a high-performing team responsible for the smooth running of our technology systems in Melbourne.
Reporting into the Infrastructure Manager (VIC/ACT), this role will see you doing the following:
- Support SBS Melbourne’s daily broadcast requirements for both Radio and Television.
- Provide technical advice for broadcasters and operators to facilitate effective and efficient use of equipment.
- Working with the Infrastructure team to provide regular maintenance of existing systems as well as assisting with project deployments and collection of requirements for new projects.
- Propose and design solutions to challenges faced by Infrastructures clients.
- Maintaining up-to-date records of the systems deployed in Melbourne including producing and updating Engineering drawings.
We are seeking a professional with solid experience in a similar type of role, the ideal candidate would have:
- Experience in a broadcast engineering or similar role
- Experience in supporting Radio, TV and IT based systems and a good understanding of design best practices of these systems.
- A solid understanding of Networking and the principles required in a corporate as well as a media (IPFM) based network.
- Experience with AOIP (AES67) and VOIP (SMPTE-2110 & NDI) based systems.
- Experience with Media Asset Management systems and Playout systems.
