Our Group Treasury Program
Group Treasury is responsible for capital, funding and balance sheet management across Westpac. In this program you will be exposed to the “bank of the bank”, learning the key aspects of how we strategically shape the balance sheet while managing liquidity risk, capital, data and operational risk - always with a focus on creating and protecting value for both our customers and the Group long into the future.
This is a 12-month program with 4 x 3-month rotations.
Focusing on the core functions of Group Treasury, your rotations will be designed to provide on-the-job training, along with specific technical and soft skill coaching from leading specialists, to support your future career in banking.
Whilst this stream provides exposure to aspects of market risk management, it is not a trading program. Trading experience can be obtained via an application to the Financial Markets & Treasury stream.
Some examples of areas which Group Treasury graduates can consider entering on completion of the program:
Students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply however you will need to demonstrate a keen interest in economics, banking and finance and possess a diverse skillset to be successful in your application.

Eligibility
- You must be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen OR an Australian Permanent Resident.
- You should be in your final year of study for a university degree OR completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree no more than 3 years ago.
- You’ll need to be available to start with us as a permanent employee in February 2027.
