More about the UI/UX Design Intern role at Internet Goods

Designer Intern

Location: Australia (Sydney preferred) Type: Paid internship with hours flexible around your studies, with a clear path to part-time or full-time after graduation for the right person

About The Role

We're looking for a final-year design student who's hungry to do strong work across web, UI/UX, and marketing graphics, and who wants to grow with us. You'll work across a variety of clients spanning ecommerce, finance, health, and service-based businesses, so curiosity and adaptability matter as much as your technical chops. You'll be trusted with real client work, with mentorship and support from our design team, and you'll finish your degree with a portfolio of shipped projects most students don't get near.

What you'll do

  • Contribute to website and landing page design with conversion in mind
  • Create marketing graphics including social posts, Meta static ads, brochures, and other collateral
  • Apply UI and UX thinking to every project
  • Work in Figma as your primary tool
  • Collaborate with our design team and grow into more ownership as your skills develop

Must-haves

  • Currently in your final year of a design degree (or equivalent)
  • A portfolio (academic, personal, or freelance projects all welcome) that shows range and taste
  • Solid UI and UX fundamentals
  • Some exposure to web or landing page design, even through coursework or self-driven projects
  • Comfortable working in Figma
  • Strong communication and a willingness to ask questions, take feedback, and iterate fast

Nice-to-haves

  • Marketing graphics experience (social, ads, print collateral)
  • Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) curiosity or knowledge
  • Marketing copywriting skills
  • Hands-on experience with Claude or other AI design tools
  • Webflow experience

What you'll get

  • Exposure to a wide range of industries and client problems
  • Real project work for your portfolio, not mock briefs
  • Deep proficiency with the latest AI tools, especially Claude
  • A clear path into part-time or full-time work post-graduation if it's a fit
  • Hours flexible around your study schedule

Who You Are

You care about craft and you care about outcomes. You're curious about how design drives business results, you're keen to work across different industries and problems, and you want to build the kind of skills that make you genuinely valuable before you've even graduated. You've got the taste and drive to grow quickly — you just need the runway and the right people around you.

Before we jump into the responsibilities of the role. No matter what you come in knowing, you’ll be learning new things all the time and the Internet Goods team will be there to support your growth.

🟢 Please consider applying even if you don't meet 100% of what’s outlined 🟢
