Hatch is looking for drilling and completions professionals to support an AI research project with one of our partners through flexible, hourly contract work.

This is not a traditional job. You’ll draw on your hands-on experience with drilling operations, well planning, and energy data systems to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI better understand drilling workflows and energy industry practices.

This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside anything else you have going on.

Note: This role is not with Hatch. It is with a partner AI lab.

Key details

  • Start: Immediate
  • Pay: AUD$65 per hour
  • Duration: 3-week project, with the possibility of extension
  • Hours: Up to 40 hours per week; no minimum hours
  • Location: Fully remote, asynchronous schedule

What you’ll do

  • Review AI-generated drilling and completions work products for technical accuracy and realism
  • Provide clear, structured feedback that helps improve model performance on drilling workflows (well planning, operations, reporting, cost tracking)
  • Complete short, self-contained work tasks in a structured format, using the tools and approaches from your professional practice

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience in drilling, completions, or related energy operations, in roles such as:
  • Drilling Engineer or Completions Engineer
  • Well Cost Analyst or Drilling Superintendent
  • Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with AI research teams
  • Bachelor's degree or higher required

Tools: Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:

  • WellView
  • SAP
  • ComboCurve
  • AVEVA PI
