Job Summary
The Cybersecurity Awareness and Communication Manager is a key enabler in building and promoting a cyber-resilient culture across the organization. This role drives awareness initiatives, communication strategies, and influence campaigns to ensure cybersecurity is understood, prioritized, and embedded at every level, from employees to senior leadership. The manager anticipates and leads internal and external communication efforts during crises, oversees phishing simulation programs, designs tailored cybersecurity training—including for the Executive Committee (ExCom)—and acts as a champion for cybersecurity in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Cybersecurity Awareness Strategy
- Develop and implement a comprehensive cybersecurity awareness program that addresses all populations within the organization, from employees to top executives.
- Foster a cyber-aware culture by designing targeted awareness campaigns, e-learning programs, webinars, and interactive workshops tailored to different audiences.
- Regularly assess the organization’s cyber awareness maturity and adapt strategies to address gaps and emerging cyber risks.
- Executive and Leadership Cyber Training
- Design and deliver tailored cybersecurity awareness training for Executive Committee (ExCom) members and senior leaders to enhance their understanding of cyber risks, threats, and responsibilities.
- Partner with leadership to ensure cybersecurity is embedded into strategic decision-making and governance practices.
- Prepare executives for cyber crisis management, including their roles and communication responsibilities during incidents.
- Crisis Communication and anticipation
- Anticipate, plan, and lead all cybersecurity-related communication matters in collaboration with crisis management and incident response teams.
- Develop and maintain cyber crisis communication playbooks and ensure they align with the overall incident response plan.
- Serve as the key communication lead during cyber incidents, ensuring clear, timely, and consistent messaging to internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct crisis simulations with ExCom members, communications teams, and operational units to test and improve crisis response capabilities.
- Phishing Simulations and Training
- Oversee phishing test campaigns to assess and improve employee awareness and readiness against social engineering attacks.
- Analyze results from phishing simulations, report findings to leadership, and design targeted interventions for populations at higher risk.
- Continuously improve and gamify awareness programs to make cybersecurity engaging, relevant, and impactful for employees.
- Cybersecurity Evangelization and Influence
- Act as a cybersecurity ambassador to evangelize best practices and the importance of cybersecurity across all levels of the organization.
- Lead internal and external communication efforts to position the organization as a cybersecurity leader in the industry, ensuring strong cyber influence and reputation.
- Represent the organization at conferences, seminars, and industry events, promoting cybersecurity as a key pillar of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and ethical business practices.
- Collaborate with CSR teams to align cybersecurity initiatives with sustainability and responsibility commitments, emphasizing the role of cyber resilience in protecting society and the environment.
- Influence and Communication Strategy
- Develop and execute clear, engaging, and impactful cybersecurity communication strategies to influence behavior change across the organization.
- Produce creative and engaging content, including newsletters, videos, blog posts, reports, and executive-level briefings.
- Tailor messages to diverse stakeholders, ensuring technical topics are translated into accessible language for non-technical audiences.
- Metrics, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of awareness campaigns, phishing simulations, and training initiatives.
- Provide regular reports at leadership and ExCom level on awareness maturity, employee engagement, phishing test results, and communication reach.
- Continuously refine programs based on data, emerging threats, and evolving organizational needs to ensure long-term behavior change and awareness.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
- Partner with HR, IT, Legal, Compliance, and Communications teams to ensure cybersecurity awareness is integrated into onboarding, performance management, and broader organizational initiatives.
- Collaborate with external partners, industry peers, and cybersecurity communities to share best practices and stay ahead of evolving cyber threats and trends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Cybersecurity, Marketing, Business Management, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity awareness, training, communications, or crisis management.
- Proven experience in developing and leading cybersecurity awareness and communication programs for large organizations.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, risks, and trends, with the ability to communicate complex technical topics in an accessible manner.
- Experience planning and executing crisis communication strategies during cybersecurity incidents.
- Familiarity with phishing simulation platforms, security awareness tools, and metrics-driven program management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills, with the ability to influence diverse audiences.
- Proven experience in executive-level communication and training.
- Knowledge of CSR frameworks and the ability to align cybersecurity awareness with corporate responsibility initiatives.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Security Awareness Professional (SANS Security Awareness) are a plus.
