We are seeking an experienced API Product Manager to join our Global Core Platform Team. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of aspects of the API product design, focusing on enhancing the experience for clients integrating with the platform. As a team we focus on key areas including user management, service and app configuration, provisioning, billing and subscriptions, non-functional requirements, single sign-on (SSO), observability, alerting, and manage the platform's public APIs as a product. This role requires expertise in developing enterprise-grade B2B SaaS API products and due to the technical nature of this position, some prior experience as a developer designing APIs and implementing integrations with third parties is essential.
Responsibilities
• Partner with domain-focused product managers to deliver the platform's public APIs, ensuring a highly discoverable and consistent DevX that will delight all clients
• Review of all Public OpenAPI specifications to ensure designs prioritise the external developer's experience.
• Collaborate closely with development teams, designers, and architects to solve problems together and deliver features efficiently.
• Articulate the context for new features through clear presentations and unambiguous documentation, empowering POs and their engineering teams to deliver at speed.
• Engage with external technical audiences to validate API designs, demonstrate API flows and ensure an outside-in approach to design our public API and integration patterns.
• Prioritize product requirements effectively, balancing impact and reach and effort to drive the highest value features first.
• Employ a diverse set of strategies—such as user interviews, platform analytics, and market research—to uncover and validate requirements effectively.
• Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders, including executive teams, ensuring alignment and transparency across the product team.
Qualifications/Skills:
• Fluent with OpenAPI Specifications to drive a contract-first approach to API development
• Skilled in API design techniques to ensure consistency, discoverability and extensibility.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
• Strong preference for candidates with experience in building highly complex enterprise B2B SaaS products.
• Enjoys tackling complex topics and distilling those to find elegant generic solutions
• Ability to quickly assimilate new concepts and technologies
• Comfortable with remote work and virtual collaboration in a global context
• A high degree of self-reliance and dedication to drive product delivery end to end
• A proven ability to adapt and remain resilient, driving progress and results despite ambiguity
Must-haves:
• Considerable experience as a developer creating API products and API led integrations.
• Experience working with a B2B SaaS platform, experience dealing with complex requirements with many stakeholders to align.
Should haves:
• Evidence of resilience, working through a situation with ambiguous requirements and being a team player
Nice to haves:
• Experience of the Payments Industry, MDM platforms, IoT
