Our designers are involved at every step of a project - from gathering insights, brainstorming, prototyping and experimentation to launching pixel-perfect designs. They use AI, data, and deep customer empathy along with diverse craft skills to design remarkable experiences for customers.
We’re seeking a talented and experienced Product Designer to join the QuickBooks Workforce Solutions team, focused primarily on Payroll Tax features for small and mid market businesses.
Responsibilities
- Independent designer and self-starter focused on design and delivery of industry leading experiences in the Payroll Tax domain for small and mid-market businesses
- Work collaboratively, sometimes under the direction of a design lead, with cross-functional teams, including other designers, product managers, engineers, researchers, and stakeholders to deliver end to end user experiences that go beyond MVP to delight customers
- Solve complex customer problems and apply industry best practices to craft usable and delightful solutions
- Conceptualize a broad spectrum of ideas and then narrow based on experimentation and user research
- Apply patterns from existing designs while also breaking the mold when necessary
- Plan and conduct user research with clear goals, including surveys, usability testing, and user interviews
- Deliver user flow diagrams, wireframes, prototypes, and pixel perfect specs for development
- Advance a strong point of view, backed up by personal expertise, design rationale, customer data, and industry trends
- Solicit feedback and contribute constructively to design reviews
- Work closely with developers to ensure implementation is to spec
- Work on one project at one time, using strong communication skills to manage time and expectations appropriately
Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in interaction design, product design, or related field
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction Design, or other relevant field. Equivalent work experience will be considered
- Deep knowledge of design principles, methods, layout and composition, interpreting and applying a standardized design system
- Deep empathy for customer problems and understanding of business needs and goals
- Curiosity and commitment to testing new ideas and innovating to drive business results
- Understands how to leverage data insights to create personalized customer experiences and define measurable success metrics for their work
- Expert at conveying ideas and concepts through storyboarding, wireframing and prototyping
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and documentation skills. Proficient in development hand-off, including QA-ing designs and articulating implementation details/specs in user stories
- Mastery of Figma, auto-layout
- Effective communicator, presenter, and negotiator
- Content design experience a plus
- Experience with designing for financial software a plus
- Strong portfolio demonstrating strong craft and collaborative process
