Job Overview

Come join the Global Business Solutions Group (GBSG) Product Data Science team as a Staff Data Scientist. The Data Science team plays a critical role in shaping strategy, scaling new businesses, and delivering delightful customer experiences. Our mission is to accelerate decision-making through advanced models, insights, and experimentation that address our most important customer and business challenges.

We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist to deliver impactful models and insights, and drive measurable outcomes for the Workforce Solutions segment within QuickBooks.


Responsibilities

  • Drive Business Strategy through Data - Translate business problems into analytical frameworks. Provides guidance and support leadership on how best to harness available data in support of critical business needs and goals
  • Build & Operationalize Advanced Models - Develop and deploy machine learning models and statistical frameworks to forecast growth, uncover patterns, and optimize decision-making across the GBSG Platform team
  • Experimentation & Causal Inference - Design, run, and analyze A/B tests and quasi-experiments using methodologies such as synthetic control, regression discontinuity, or propensity score matching to establish causal relationships and measure impact.
  • Cross-Functional Influence - Serve as the strategic data science partner to leaders across Marketing, Product, and Finance. Communicate complex findings clearly and concisely to drive alignment and action
  • Data Infrastructure & Governance - Partner with data engineering and platform teams to ensure reliable, scalable data pipelines and tracking instrumentation are in place. Champion data hygiene and integrity.
  • Insights at Scale - Create dashboards, visualizations, and self-serve tools to democratize access to insights across cross-functional teams and leadership

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in data science, with a proven record of applying advanced analytical methods to drive product and business growth ideally in Saas or financial technology companies serving consumer or SMBs
  • Demonstrated proficiency in causal inference techniques, statistical modeling, machine learning, and experimental design
  • Strong business acumen, excellent communication and storytelling skills with a track record of effectively simplifying the complex and delivering compelling narratives to stakeholders at all levels through data-driven insights
  • Advanced skills in SQL, Python, and other analytical tools, with practical experience using data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Qlikview) to communicate insights; Experience with data integration and pipeline development is a plus
  • Experience using statistics and machine learning techniques to solve complex business problems within product marketing, e.g., product funnel optimization, propensity for feature adoption, next best action models etc.
  • MS. or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research) or equivalent work experience
