Job Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Staff Backend Software Engineer to lead the technical vision, design, and implementation of our high-scale, real-time Clickstream Data Platform. This platform is the critical backbone for real-time analytics, personalization, and AI/ML model training across the company. You will operate as a force multiplier, driving engineering excellence, mentoring senior engineers, and ensuring the platform meets uncompromising standards for availability, latency, and data integrity.


Responsibilities

  • Technical Strategy & Vision: Define and drive the multi-year technical roadmap and architecture for the Clickstream Platform, ensuring alignment with overall business and data strategy.

  • System Architecture & Design: Lead the design and implementation of highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and low-latency backend microservices and data pipelines for event ingestion, processing, storage, and serving.

  • Clickstream Capabilities: Directly drive the development of core platform capabilities, including schema evolution, real-time data validation, data governance, and secure, high-performance APIs for accessing clickstream data.

  • Operational Excellence: Establish and enforce best practices for platform observability (monitoring, logging, tracing), automated testing, disaster recovery, and continuous delivery (CI/CD) in a cloud-native environment.

  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Act as a technical leader across multiple teams, mentoring senior and principal engineers, conducting architecture reviews, and raising the overall technical bar for the engineering organization.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Frontend/Data Engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.


Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10+ years experience of software development working in large-scale distributed technology environments.

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • End-to-end hands-on experience in building large scale data processing systems, large scale machine learning systems, and big data/cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).

    Knowledge of building AI native applications

    ○Guides the applicability of AI to customer problems through a deep understanding of the value and limitations of AI technologies.

    ○Understands evaluation tools to validate and measure the accuracy.

  • Ideal Candidate would have

    • Proven track record of innovating and influencing to provide novel and effective solutions to difficult software engineering problems
    • Demonstrated entrepreneurial perspective in ideation and implementation
    • Experience building web analytics solutions , tracking libraries is a strong plus

Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. To drive ongoing fair pay for employees, Intuit conducts regular comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender. The expected base pay range for this position is:

Bay Area California $ 197,000- 266,500
