Job Overview
As a Technical Product Manager and Product Strategist, you will be the subject matter expert on talent performance and talent management platforms, with a focus on Workday. In this expanded role, you will blend technical expertise, system design thinking, and long-range product strategy to shape how the company measures, manages, and grows talent. You will define the future-state vision for talent development and performance solutions, evaluate new technologies (e.g., manager AI agent, promotion tools, goal-setting platforms), and influence investment decisions across the enterprise.
Your role sits at the intersection of product strategy, system architecture, and organizational transformation, ensuring our performance and talent management capabilities are reliable, scalable, and strategically aligned to business and workforce priorities.

Product & System Ownership
Drive the design, configuration, and roadmap for Workday Talent Performance modules, aligning system capabilities with evolving business and workforce needs.
Translate talent performance goals into functional and technical system requirements that deliver measurable outcomes.
Own backlog prioritization and partner with HR and IT teams to continuously enhance the employee and manager experience.
Ensure product decisions support both short-term delivery and long-term strategic product direction.
Define a multi-year product strategy for talent performance, development, and talent management platforms, including how Workday, internal tools, and new technologies integrate into a unified ecosystem.
Conduct market research and competitive analysis to benchmark against industry-leading performance and development approaches.
Build business cases, investment proposals, and ROI models to guide leadership decisions on platform evolution (e.g., Betterworks replacement, AI-enabled manager tools, promotion frameworks).
Establish north-star metrics and success measures that link product outcomes to business and talent goals.
Identify opportunities to streamline or modernize the talent lifecycle experience through new capabilities, automation, AI, and data-driven insights.
Serve as a thought leader with HR leadership on future-state talent development strategy and how technology should enable it.
Create and maintain a strategic portfolio view, ensuring alignment across performance management, talent mobility, career development, and related platforms.
Provide solution architecture guidance to integrate Workday with adjacent systems, ensuring data accuracy, process efficiency, and compliance.
Conduct system audits and performance tuning to ensure reliability, scalability, and optimal user experience.
Stay current on Workday releases, enhancements, and innovations; evaluate features for adoption through a strategic lens (e.g., long-term fit, cost-value trade-offs).

Talent Performance & Development Impact
Partner with People & Culture leaders to design performance philosophies, feedback loops, goal-setting frameworks, promotion processes, and calibration workflows within Workday or supplemental tools.
Use system data and analytics to identify gaps in performance tracking, career development, and talent readiness; influence workforce strategy using insights.
Ensure technical solutions reinforce the company’s approach to performance, growth, and talent mobility.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with HRBPs, IT, analytics, compliance, and business leaders to design solutions that balance technical feasibility with organizational impact.
Serve as the strategic and technical point of contact during Workday projects and across the talent tech ecosystem.
Drive change management, stakeholder alignment, and enterprise adoption for new tools and capabilities.
Train and support internal teams on system functionality, strategic use cases, and best practices.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Product Manager or system owner for Workday Talent modules (Performance, Goals, Feedback).
Experience defining multi-year product strategies, roadmaps, or portfolios (preferred for strategist scope).
Strong technical background with expertise in system architecture, integrations, and analytics.
Ability to translate talent management strategies into scalable technical and product solutions.
Exceptional communication and executive influence skills, with a track record of driving cross-functional alignment.
Strong analytical skills with experience conducting system audits and leveraging data for decision-making.
Background in talent development, performance management, or HR technology strategy is a plus.
