Come join the Accounting Organization as a Fintech Revenue Recognition Lead. We are looking for creative problem solvers with a passion for innovation to join our team and revolutionize the way the world does business. Position is located in either San Diego or Mountain View, CA. This Revenue Recognition Lead is an individual contributor role primarily responsible for leading the technical revenue recognition direction activities across our Fintech offerings. This individual will drive policy interpretation, advise cross-functional partners, and be the single point of ownership for complex accounting issues in this critical growth area Responsibilities include working with the business unit marketers, product managers, FP&A, Legal, and IT teams to understand business strategy, systems roadmaps, and end-to-end offering requirements in order to provide technical revenue guidance and ensure proper systemic and manual revenue accounting. This is a highly visible and exciting role in the Finance controllership group in service to accurate revenue recognition and financial statements while supporting Intuit’s overall growth.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills with the ability to organize him/herself to deliver against critical objectives and priorities. S/he will be able to navigate difficult issues and individuals successfully and align stakeholders in service to a common outcome. With accounting as the foundation, this individual leverages his/her business acumen and influence to tackle tough challenges and transform operations from an end-to-end perspective. The ideal candidate will have the ability to collaborate and lead across multiple functions and roles, the ability to translate technical literature and accounting/company policy into clear requirements for execution, strong change management skills, and the ability to drive issues through to resolution.
Responsibilities
Understand the end-to-end operational, financial, and systemic environment and key upstream and downstream processes that drive financial and customer impacts. Drive strategy to support revenue recognition, new offerings, and business changes in the Fintech space.
Develop, maintain, and enforce the Company's revenue recognition policy under ASC 606 and other applicable literature (ASC 310, ASC 815, ASC 860), developing new positions and interpretations as needed. Stay connected to current business and offering strategies.
Perform technical accounting research.
Make decisions based on data and accounting guidance and drive end-to-end outcomes independently. Transparently communicate decisions, tradeoffs, plans, goals and strategies across multiple organizations to ensure alignment to the objectives and teams to do their jobs effectively.
Monitor the internal and external environment and anticipate desirable change. Stay current on evolving Accounting Standards pronouncements and updates under prevailing regulatory bodies (FASB, SEC), incorporating into current Company policy as necessary. Maintain active relationships with professional colleagues outside the company in order to understand current best practices.
Establish and maintain controls necessary to ensure that revenue forecasts, deferred revenue balances, and revenue accounting execution are compliant with Company policy and GAAP.
Proactively lead and influence cross-functionally and at all levels of management. Cultivate strong relationships with leaders in Accounting, Finance, and across the business to facilitate timely, high-quality decision-making in connection with revenue recognition matters.
Work well through ambiguity, with confidence in making tough calls and leading through adversity with a sharp focus on driving the right outcomes.
Use excellent communication skills to inspire confidence in decisions and provide transparency as to status and trade-offs, with the ability to bridge between accounting, technical, and business mindsets with ease.
Serve as the subject matter expert on ASC 606 for Fintech revenue, building and delivering high-impact training to Product, Sales, and Functional leaders.
Work comfortably with cross functional teams and actively consult with Product Management, Sales, and Marketing personnel to ensure revenue recognition timing and process implications are understood for each offering.
Ensure the proper accounting treatment for all product and service offerings is documented and that related accounts are properly prepared, reviewed, and substantiated.
Streamline systems and reporting tools to ensure efficient and accurate recording and classification of revenue.
Participate in revenue recognition due diligence activities related to potential acquisitions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’’ degree in Finance/Accounting with minimum of 7 years’ post-graduate experience, or equivalent work experience; CPA/MBA highly desirable.
Proven expertise and application of ASC 606, ASC 310, ASC 815, ASC 860.
Mastery of technical accounting and revenue recognition and SOX internal controls over financial reporting. Demonstrated understanding of theory and application of relevant revenue recognition accounting literature.
Strong end-to-end process orientation with demonstrated analytical thinking, project management, and problem-solving skills. Proactively address issues, own the outcome, and continuously strive for best-in-class processes and deliverables.
Experience with developing requirements, reviewing end-to-end processes, and contributing to and validating system design on implementations of enterprise financial reporting systems.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a dynamic, multi-business unit environment. Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functionally and at all levels of management.
Excellent analytical and organizational skills, time prioritization, and risk assessment.
Professional skepticism and a testing/validation mindset. Background in public accounting or internal audit is a plus.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and and influencing skills with a proven ability to distill complex accounting issues into clear, actionable business guidance for a non-finance audience.
Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. Oracle, SAP), billing platforms, revenue recognition engines (e.g. Revstream, RevPro), and advanced Excel/data analytics tools.
Must be able to work in the hybrid work model; at least 3 days in either our San Diego or Mountain View office.

Southern California: 124,000-167,500
Bay Area: 142,000-192,500
