Company Overview

Intuit is the global financial technology platform that powers prosperity for the people and communities we serve. With approximately 100 million customers worldwide using products such as TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to prosper. We never stop working to find new, innovative ways to make that possible.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, AI with a “builder” mindset to join the Fintech Money team. Our team powers Intuit’s money movement platform across QuickBooks, Mailchimp, and TurboTax, handling trillions of dollars in invoices, bills, and payroll each year. This scale gives us a unique opportunity to deliver industry-leading financial services and cash flow insights to customers.

In this role, you will design and build AI-powered backend services and customer-facing applications that transform how customers manage their money. You will play a pivotal role in Intuit’s mission to become AI-native by leveraging your backend and full-stack expertise to create scalable, production-ready AI solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build full-stack applications, spanning backend services, APIs, and customer-facing UIs across web, mobile, and messaging (e.g., SMS).

  • Drive scalable backend systems that power AI-driven workflows (invoicing, payments, cash flow).

  • Drive architecture design across frontend, backend, and AI layers to ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with attention to user experience, security, and reliability.

  • Take ownership as a hands-on engineer while mentoring junior engineers and applying technical expertise to challenging design and programming problems.

  • Collaborate with product, design, and AI engineers to rapidly prototype early concepts and evolve them into production-ready features.

  • Rapidly ship V1 experiments and pilots, iterating based on customer interviews and feedback.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including ownership of complex, customer-facing systems at scale.

  • Demonstrated ability to design scalable, reliable backend systems that support AI-driven workflows, including low-latency APIs, data pipelines, and orchestration services.

  • Proven experience building and shipping AI-powered products end to end, with hands-on work in LLM-based architectures, RAG, prompt design, evaluation frameworks, and production monitoring.

  • Experience leading or significantly influencing architecture and technical design across frontend, backend, and AI layers in ambiguous problem spaces.

  • Strong understanding of integrating frontend applications with backend services using REST, GraphQL, and/or gRPC.

  • Experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from design and implementation through deployment, iteration, and long-term maintenance.

  • Familiarity with AI-native product principles, including experimentation, model evaluation, human-in-the-loop workflows, and metrics-driven iteration.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, experimental environment, rapidly shipping V1 solutions and iterating based on customer feedback.
