Company Overview

With approximately 100 million customers worldwide using products such as TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to prosper. We never stop working to find new, innovative ways to make that possible.
Job Overview
We’re looking for a Web Operations Production Manager to lead and evolve our web production practice. The ideal candidate is a seasoned people manager, strong communicator, and technical leader who understands how enterprise websites operate at scale. You will lead by example—setting direction, removing obstacles, and ensuring your team is equipped to deliver high-quality work across multiple initiatives with competing priorities.
You will serve as the primary advocate for Web Ops from the Associate to Staff level, translating organizational goals into clear execution plans, and making web production feel seamless to partners across the business.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of digital producers, both full-time employees and contractors, supporting both individual growth and collective delivery across mailchimp.com and other digital properties.
- Own web production strategy and execution, ensuring projects are planned, prioritized, and delivered on time across multiple campaigns and initiatives.
- Act as the central connector between Web Ops and cross-functional partners including Marketing, Product, Project Management, Copy, Design, SEO, and Engineering.
- Translate big-picture organizational goals into clear priorities and execution plans for the team, managing capacity, expectations, and tradeoffs.
- Partner with digital project planning to guide teams in building strong project briefs, defining objectives, deliverables, dependencies, and timelines.
- Build, maintain, and optimize production workflows within the CMS, including QA, page building, localization, governance, and ongoing maintenance.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for the Contentful CMS and related web production tools, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
- Own and evolve the web tech stack, making recommendations to ensure enterprise-level performance, sustainability, and flexibility.
- Provide strategic guidance and best practices to stakeholders, helping them understand what’s possible, what’s required, and how to move faster without sacrificing quality.
- Participate in and influence strategic planning, representing the digital production team, identifying risks, and proposing solutions aligned with priorities and timelines.
- Manage external vendors or third-party partners as needed to support web initiatives.
- Maintain centralized documentation for workflows, training, governance, and process standards, ensuring clarity and consistency across teams.
- Champion continuous improvement, proactively seeking out new technologies, tools, and process updates that strengthen the team and improve outcomes.
- Develop and grow your team, creating clear career paths, ensuring cross-functional and technical learning, and establishing system backups across roles.
- Contribute as an individual contributor when needed, jumping into the CMS or production workflows to unblock work or support the team during high-volume periods.
Qualifications
We’d love to hear from you if:
- You have deep experience working with headless CMS platforms, preferably Contentful, in an enterprise web environment.
- You are comfortable leading people while remaining hands-on, balancing management responsibilities with tactical execution when necessary.
- You have strong SEO knowledge and understand how SEO integrates into CMS-driven production workflows.
- You understand HTML, CSS, and JavaScript well enough to troubleshoot issues and guide best practices within the CMS.
- You have experience running project management systems (e.g., Workfront, Jira) in an agile or fast-paced environment.
- You enjoy acting as a translator—making complex technical concepts accessible to non-technical stakeholders.
- You’re confident in managing multiple, competing priorities while maintaining strong relationships and clear communication.
What would make you a great candidate:
- 6+ years of professional experience in web design, development, or web operations within an enterprise environment.
- 1+ years of people management experience, with a track record of developing and mentoring talent.
- Experience supporting large-scale websites with legacy content, localization, and international considerations.
- Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to make decisions aligned with executive and organizational priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills—you can uplevel status updates, risks, and recommendations for leadership audiences.
- A mindset focused on making web ops look easy, even when the work behind the scenes is complex.
