Job Overview

This is an accounting role as a Senior Revenue Accountant on the Revenue Recognition team within the Controllership, Assurance, and Operations (CAO) organization. The position is based in San Diego, CA. The position is responsible for applying revenue recognition principles through the performance of revenue accounting, while also charged with gaining efficiencies and work product improvements that address financial risk and support business growth.

Intuit’s Finance team drives business growth and profitability through strategic, financial, and operational leadership. Our team is comprised of finance, accounting, supply chain, corporate strategy and development, and tax professionals that support and enhance Intuit's operating efficiencies.


Responsibilities

  • Apply the Company's revenue recognition policy as it relates to the performance of revenue accounting, including applying accounting principles such as revenue recognition, contra revenue, deferred revenue, and variable consideration per ASC 606 standards.

  • Participate in the month- and quarter-end close process and related responsibilities. Prepare journal entries and maintain account reconciliations consistent with GAAP and corporate accounting policies to ensure close timelines are met.

  • Perform analyses to support reserves and other revenue and expense impacting entries.

  • Prepare clear documentation related to responsibility areas, including technical accounting white papers, detailed processes and procedures, end-to-end accounting analyses, and schedules for management and for external reporting requested by internal and external auditors.

  • Effectively assess risk over accounts and areas of responsibility. Apply judgment to ensure that financial integrity of accounting entries, accruals, and account reconciliations are intact and operating effectively. Able to clearly articulate results and variances and demonstrate an understanding of root cause to management.

  • Assist in research of technical accounting issues as needed. Apply proper accounting treatment required as a basis for booking journal entries and gathering audit evidence.

  • Stay current on evolving Accounting Standards pronouncements and updates under prevailing regulatory bodies (FASB, SEC), incorporating into current Company policy as necessary.

  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders, including business partners, accounting leads, and auditors to effectively address accounting matters and ensure alignment on financial reporting and compliance.

  • Manage and streamline various systems and reporting tools including Blackline, QlikSense, RevStream, and QuickBase to ensure efficient and accurate recording and proper classification of revenue.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to gain efficiencies and improve work product.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting with minimum of 3 years experience preferred or equivalent work experience; CPA/MBA highly desirable.

  • Must to be able to work out of our San Diego office at least 3 days a week.

  • Background in understanding and applying software and SaaS revenue accounting literature.

  • Strong technical (GAAP) and financial accounting skills and ability to document accounting conclusions.

  • Ability to manage complexity well and demonstrated experience managing across functions and businesses to accomplish large-scale goals in a large, public company environment.

  • Confidence, good judgment, energy, and personality to work in a dynamic, multi-business unit environment across all levels of management and across business units and functions.

  • Strong end-to-end process orientation with demonstrated analytical thinking, organizational skills and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to influence people indirectly and work with people in multi-functional roles.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational skills, and time prioritization skills. .

  • Attention to detail and precision in handling complex accounting procedures and reconciliations.

  • Working knowledge of Oracle, QuickBase, QlikSense, and RevStream is a plus.

  • Experience with SOX compliance and key systems/applications is preferred.

  • Strong PC, worksheet, and word processing skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to raise and resolve issues appropriately.
