Job Overview

Intuit’s Enterprise Suite (IES) is transforming how mid-market and growing enterprise businesses manage their finances, projects, and operations — all in one connected platform.

As a Director of Software Engineering in the Mid-Market organization, you will lead large, distributed engineering teams responsible for building scalable, AI-powered, enterprise-grade platform capabilities within the QuickBooks ecosystem. This role requires strong technical depth, organizational influence, and a platform-first mindset to drive durable innovation serving millions of customers.


Responsibilities

Technology Strategy

  • Lead the technical strategy and guide the delivery of AI-powered solutions and services.

  • Drive target state technical architecture for durable platform capabilities that serve multiple application teams and millions of customers, embodying a mindset of creating acceleration for multiple business lines.

Organizational Leadership

  • Influence teams and leaders across Intuit to revolutionize product and service experiences by centering on platform enablement.

  • Collaborate with senior engineering and business leaders to enact organizational and structural changes and nourish robust engineering teams.

  • Significantly contribute to company-wide initiatives focused on engineering excellence and talent development.

Boundary-less Leadership

  • Foster boundary-less leadership by closely working with multidisciplinary teams across Product Management, Design, and Technical Program Management to help ensure satisfying customer outcomes.

  • Actively engage in external developer, partner, and technology communities to fuel innovation and drive customer results.

Platform Mindset

  • Champion an open platform fostering contributions from within and outside Intuit.

  • Propel company-wide initiatives such as platform and data architecture evolution, modernization efforts, and process improvements.

Operational Excellence

  • Elevate operational standards to make services and products more secure, available, scalable, resilient, and performant.

  • Inspire team innovation and ensure delivery of quality at speed across product offerings and platform services.

People Leadership

  • Recruit top talent, provide coaching, and build a high-performing organization.

  • Actively participate in Intuit’s talent development by executing successful strategies through diligent planning, clear delegation, rubric development, and fostering strong individual and team accountability.

  • Operate effectively in a high-velocity environment, make quick and informed decisions, and move swiftly to deliver high-quality outcomes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • 15+ years in the software industry building scalable, high-performing technology solutions, with 5+ years in an executive or senior engineering leadership role.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-velocity SaaS and PaaS platforms serving millions of customers, leveraging AI to innovate and transform product experiences and capabilities.

  • Proven experience partnering with senior engineering and business leaders to influence organizational decisions and build high-performing engineering teams; ability to lead and drive significant change across large, distributed organizations.

  • Strong decision-making skills with demonstrated ability to balance short-term delivery and long-term product strategy while considering all key stakeholders (customers, employees, shareholders, partners).

  • Extensive experience driving operational excellence and leading large-scale process improvements through innovation and behavioral change.

  • Experience implementing AI-driven product development processes to accelerate innovation, reduce risk, and improve operational efficiency.

  • Experience building products on public cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud; experience leading data engineering and analytics teams with the ability to leverage insights for product refinement.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish technology sourcing direction and provide strategic context for related decisions.

  • Deep understanding of modern architectures, big data technologies, machine learning, and emerging technology trends.

  • Proficiency in one or more key technologies such as React, Java, JavaScript, and NoSQL, with strong expertise across front-end and back-end architecture and design.
