Job Overview
The Senior TPM role looks for creative problem solvers with a passion for tackling tough customer problems, serving as a program leader with responsibility for delivering business outcomes. The role is responsible for stewarding strategic, platform, or consumer initiatives and driving the delivery of transformational change by providing leadership and direction to assigned software programs.
Responsibilities
The role is structured across several key dimensions:
Deliver Programs The Senior TPM drives the project/program operating rhythm, develops a high-quality plan organized into manageable workstream-level pieces, uses data to assess progress and trends, and communicates those trends to stakeholders. They identify risks and issues and work with stakeholders to determine response plans.
Focus Strategically They work collaboratively with leaders to drive project/program and organizational strategy to accelerate the most strategic business outcomes, and drive data-driven recommendations to execute, monitor, and communicate progress, trade-offs, or decisions needed.
Lead Change They build trust across teams, understand and support key changes — including process, technology, and organizational changes — execute on the change management plan, and role model embracing change to lead teams through evolving priorities.
Enable Scale They recommend areas of improvement within the project/program and work with stakeholders to implement them, participate in opportunities to engage with the program community to improve their craft, and coach others in the business on program management fundamentals.
Domain Expertise They quickly absorb information in a new program area, parse what is important, apply appropriate SDLC methodologies, identify technical dependencies and gaps, determine capabilities needed, and engage the proper technical experts to determine solutions.
Qualifications
Key qualifications include strong Program Management leadership experience with 5+ years leading well-defined small-to-medium sized programs, demonstrated ability to influence at the director level within a matrixed environment, strong technical acumen with expertise in software development approach, architecture, and lifecycle, and the ability to build strong partnerships across teams. A computer science or technical education background is preferred, as is Agile training and experience.
From a more recent SBG-adjacent req, additional qualifications include: Outstanding communication skills appropriate for executive-level audiences, highly capable stakeholder management, demonstrated ability to collaborate with engineering teams on complex technology programs in an agile environment, and the ability to thrive in establishing order and clarity amid ambiguity and chaos.
