Product Counsel, Responsible AI Governance & Platform

Category Legal, Compliance & Policy Location Mountain View, California Job ID 21980

Company Overview

Intuit is the global financial technology platform that powers prosperity for the people and communities we serve. With approximately 100 million customers worldwide using products such as TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to prosper. We never stop working to find new, innovative ways to make that possible.

Job Overview

Intuit is seeking a Product Counsel to join its Legal, Compliance & Policy Organization’s Platform Team. In this role, you will serve as both product counsel for our platform and AI-powered experiences, and as a driver of Intuit’s Responsible AI governance program—two areas that are interconnected as Intuit continues to build and deploy AI-powered experiences at scale.

You will continue to develop Intuit’s Responsible AI governance framework—proposing policies, guidelines, and requirements that govern how AI is developed and deployed responsibly at Intuit. Intuit’s technology organization operationalizes the framework—embedding requirements into product and engineering workflows—and you will partner closely with those teams.

You will also provide legal counsel on platform and AI matters, advising on data privacy, IP, and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

AI Governance Framework & Program Development

  • Continue to build Intuit’s Responsible AI governance program, and propose policies, guidelines, and requirements that define how AI is built and deployed responsibly across the company.
  • Map proposed governance requirements against emerging global AI regulations and industry standards (e.g., EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001).
  • Leverage tech to continuously improve the cross-functional stakeholder review process for AI governance, across legal, product, engineering, and compliance teams.
  • Partner to monitor global AI regulatory developments and translate them into guidance.
  • Conduct AI impact and risk assessments.
  • Develop and deliver training.

Product Counsel - Platform and AI

  • Provide legal counsel on a broad range of matters related to Intuit’s Platform and AI-powered experiences, including data privacy and protection, IP, and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Draft and review AI-related contract provisions and terms of service.
  • Advise on the legal and ethical implications of AI systems, including large language models and machine learning, and help teams navigate novel legal questions in this rapidly evolving space.

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of legal and compliance experience, preferably at a technology, SaaS, or financial services company, including experience advising on AI, data privacy, or emerging technology.

  • Demonstrated experience contributing to or driving a governance or compliance program.

  • Understanding of global AI regulatory developments and the ability to translate them into practical proposed policy requirements.

  • Understanding of the technical aspects of AI systems, including large language models and machine learning.

  • Experience providing legal counsel on platform, product, or technology matters, ideally in a global context.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively.

  • Ability to perform with minimal supervision, produce recommendations in novel situations, and balance risk and opportunity.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • JD and bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
