Nelnet Renewable Energy is hiring for the position of Solar Site Surveyor. A solar site surveyor travels around visiting homes interested in solar renewable energy to collect measurements, take photos, evaluate roof, attic and ground conditions, and record information necessary for installation feasibility.
We will train you to fly drones and comply with all federal and other regulations. We will pay for, and help facilitate, your FAA Part 107 license, which allows you to operate an unmanned commercial vehicle like a drone. This license belongs to you personally and will benefit you for years to come in many other industries as well. You will have access in-house to other FAA Part 107 pilots to assist you in your training.
Your main tools used (of which we'll supply) are a drone (quadcopter), ladder, tape measure, screwdriver, and flashlight. You will be supplied with a company vehicle during business hours, or mileage paid.
**This position will be based out of our Bloomington, IL office**
You'll be trained to:
Review residential properties for solar feasibility (roof & ground)
Operate a drone to collect data via aerial imagery
Measure and inspect attic spaces
Safely use ladders to get on rooftops to assess conditions
Lift and carry 50 lbs without any assistance
Walk across uneven and wet surfaces
Inspect and document existing electrical equipment
Attend building and electrical inspections as needed
Learn hands-on with our technical service team to handle warranty related service work to diversify and grow your technical understanding of all things Solar PV.
Qualifications:
● FAA Part 107 license (preferred)
● NABCEP PV Associate Credentials (preferred)
● Solar or related trade background or education (preferred)
● Computer skills and ability to learn programs quickly
● Ability to solve problems on the spot and independently
● Excellent time management and punctuality
Requirements:
● Mon-Fri availability, 8-10 hour shifts
● Wear a mask and shoe protection inside homes
● Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
● Reliable transportation to and from the NRE offices.
Pay range for this role is $18.00-$23.00 an hour, depending on experience.
