The role of the Title Instructional Coach is to build teacher capacity and understanding of instructional practices as they relate to a child’s ability to be successful across content areas. In addition, the Title Instructional Coach uses data to promote continuous improvement with the teacher’s performance, with the intent to improve student academic achievement. This position works collaboratively with the teacher to promote reflection, provide guidance, and design structure to help fulfill the responsibility of ensuring high quality instruction in the classroom. An Instructional Coach focuses on strengths, collaboration and common issues of concern, as well as modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and constructive feedback.ELL and High School Literacy Intervention preferred
You will need to have state of Arkansas teaching certificate to be eligible for this role.
Rate of pay: $40.00/Hour
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide hands-on approach to coaching sessions, with goals to impact and improve instruction, student learning and teacher development.
2. Act as an advisor to teachers and conduct coaching sessions including, but not limited to, modeling lessons in classrooms, helping teachers plan instruction and facilitating professional development.
3. Observe instructional delivery and provide feedback to enhance the instructional performance of a teacher and improve student achievement in specified content areas.
4. Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the curriculum, assessment and data analysis.
5. Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators and other coaches.
6. Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught, consistent with recognized best instructional practices.
7. Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.
8. Support teachers by helping with the strategic how of teaching by sharing multiple instructional strategies/processes during planning times with teachers.
9. Help to develop teachers’ knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs.
10. Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement.
11. Utilize Adult Learning Theory to motivate adult learners to improve professional practice.
12. Contribute to the development systems and structures to improve teacher practice within schools.
EDUCATION:
1. Bachelor of Art/Science required (preferably in Education).
2. Master’s Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum 7 years teaching in the K-12 classroom is preferred.
2. Experience leading professional learning and job-embedded coaching sessions (individual and group sessions).
3. Experience with or high capacity to master video technology and video-based software.
4. Experience with, and understanding of, socio-economically and ethnically diverse student populations.
COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
1. Theoretical knowledge of specified content and pedagogy.
2. Strong collaboration, communication, documentation and presentation skills.
3. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to give and receive constructive Feedback.
4. Ability to develop articulated coaching schedules, implementation plans and detailed session logs.
5. Ability to recommend and assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, technology, information, etc., that support classroom instruction and planning.
