Nelnet’s in-house marketing agency is looking for a social media specialist. Our team, comprised of over 30 marketing professionals, supports the marketing, advertising, and branding efforts for Nelnet’s 24+ businesses. We produce effective, award-winning creative that helps move Nelnet forward.The social media specialist reports directly to the social media manager. This position works closely with other members of the marketing team and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of projects. The social media specialist is expected to assist in developing and executing social strategies that drive sales, increase brand awareness, and support business goals for individual Nelnet business lines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Utilize Nelnet (NN) social media management platform (SMM) to:
a. Schedule bi-weekly/monthly organic content across all NN social channels.
b. Monitor daily conversation and exchanges across all NN social channels.
c. Engage in daily conversation and exchanges across NN social channels (when appropriate).
d. Pull monthly social metrics and track growth of NN business and competitor accounts.
e. Prepare monthly social media reports and provide recommendations based on the data.
2. Assist in developing and refining social media strategies, policies, content calendars, and campaigns as directed by the social media manager.
3. Prepare and monitor paid social advertising campaigns to ensure budget recommendations are met.
4. Leverage our project management and planning system to help manage and organize projects.
5. Research current social trends and new social platforms, and provide recommendations.
6. Help maintain enterprise social media governance and moderation standards.
7. Learn about Nelnet’s various businesses, product/service offerings, markets, and competition.
8. Other duties or special projects as may be assigned.
EDUCATION:
1. A bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, journalism, or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
1. 1-3 years of experience (professional or internship) in social media or digital marketing.
COMPETENCIES:
1. Quick to learn with strong problem-solving skills.
2. Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
3. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
4. Ability to successfully manage multiple projects.
5. Ability to follow directions and then work independently.
6. Active learner who stays up-to-date on social media trends and best practices.
