Collaboration, relationship-building, communication and leadership are key aspects of the Product Owner role. The ultimate purpose of the Product Owner is to understand the Stakeholder needs, prioritize those needs based on business value and communicate those to the Technology Delivery Team so they can continuously improve the product.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Active and effective collaboration with Stakeholders, Teams and Product Manager to ensure
an aligned understanding of business needs and objective; consistent understanding of
business value to be delivered and common understanding of release plans and impacts.
2. Ensuring decisions are made regarding product direction and priorities, and are based on
Stakeholder input and factual evidence.
3. Facilitating creativity and shepherding the innovation process – seeking team input and buy in on decisions
4. Responsible for maximizing the value of the product by clearly articulating the ‘what’ and
the ‘why’ of the work prepared for the teams.
5. Responsible for maintaining a product level backlog including milestones, epics, user stories
and acceptance criteria. Work with teams to ensure they understand the business needs
outlined in the stories
6. Ensuring the backlog is refined - visible, transparent and clear, and provides detailed
descriptions of the desired outcome to the teams.
7. Participating in team ceremonies and/or meetings.
8. Monitor delivery progress to ensure appropriate return on investments will be met.

Nelnet believes in a hybrid work environment that accommodates both in-office and remote work. The standard hybrid work schedule includes a 3/2 (in-office/work-from-home) split for associates that reside within 30 miles of an office. This is subject to change, based on manager discretion.
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a 6C Federal security clearance are required for this role. Some travel may be required.
Annual Salary Hiring Range for this position is $80k - $115k
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree or related fields and/or commensurate experience. Master’s degree beneficial.
EXPERIENCE:
1. 2+ years’ experience using an Agile methodology
2. 2+ years’ experience as an Agile Product Owner preferred
3. Proven experience working with Senior Executives required
4. 2+ years’ student loan experience preferred
