If you’re looking for an unparalleled experience to make an impact on your future career, we’d love to hear from you. Through our Pathway Program, interns have the opportunity to expand their network, get real world experience within a business field, and build upon your passions – some of which you’ll discover along the way.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pathway Interns will work directly as a functioning member of multiple teams within Nelnet. Interns will rotate through a variety of business departments across the enterprise, adding value to projects already in place or creating new ones to own yourself. In addition, they will collaborate with other interns to complete multiple projects based on real business problems Nelnet faces today. Through this program, we have scheduled events, programming, networking, and mentorship opportunities that interns will be expected to participate in.

Human Resources – We’re powered by our people. Help us create an awesome work environment.
Interns in this track will support various departments within our Human Resources teams (otherwise known as People Services). You can expect to learn about supporting associates through benefits, engagement, and more. In addition, you may be exposed to our hiring practices and assist in the process. Available departments to rotate through include:

• Associate Experience
• Benefits and Wellness/Pay roll
• Campus Recruiting

• Human Resources Business Partners

Projects may include:

  • Assist with financial analysis and reporting for multiple business lines.
  • Support internal audit processes by gathering and reviewing documentation.
  • Perform research on accounting standards and best practices to enhance department procedures.
  • Prepare and reconcile data in Excel for accounting and finance projects.
  • Collaborate on process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Contribute to presentations and reports for leadership teams.

You will receive:
Computer Equipment: Laptop, monitor, keyboard, and mouse, for the duration of your internship.
Day-to-day support from direct manager(s), the formal Nelnet Mentor Program, campus recruiting, and Nelnet support functions regarding any questions you might have.
The most comfortable Nelnet t-shirts, along with other swag items, to help you feel at home.

EDUCATION:

Enrolled in a 4-year degree, preferable sophomore or junior status, in majors such as Management, Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Organization, or other business-related majors.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Strong understanding of ethical standards and compliance when working with sensitive data and personally identifiable information (PII).
  • Proven attention to detail in tasks involving documentation, data entry, and accuracy checks.
  • Experience in roles or projects requiring empathy and professionalism when interacting with individuals in sensitive or personal situations.
  • Ability to maintain trust and confidentiality while supporting HR processes such as recruiting, onboarding, and associate engagement.
