The opportunity
As Netwealth continues to expand its platform and product offerings, engagement with regulators is increasing in both volume and complexity. To support this, we're heading a new Head of Legal to play a lead role in managing Netwealth's regulatory engagement and response activities.
Reporting to the GM of Legal, this is a highly visible, hands-on role responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, timely and accurate responses to regulatory requests, investigations and reviews, while providing clear, pragmatic advice to senior leaders and Boards.
This role has a strong regulatory and litigation bias and will act as the lead lawyer on complex regulatory matters, working closely with executives, the business and external counsel to gather evidence, manage timelines and ensure responses are robust, well-considered and aligned to Netwealth's values and obligations.
Key aspects of the role include:
Leading the Group's legal response to regulatory requests, investigations and formal engagement with ASIC, APRA and other regulators
Managing complex, time-critical matters involving document production, written submissions and stakeholder coordination
Acting as a senior legal adviser to executives and Boards on regulatory risk, investigations and resolution strategies
Overseeing litigation and dispute resolution maters, including engagement with external counsel
Setting the standard for delivery, rigour and professionalism across regulatory legal work
Partnering closely with the General Manager, Legal to uplift processes, capability and ways of working across the function
About you
You are a senior lawyer with strong regulatory and litigation experience who thrives in complex, high-profile environments. You are known for your tenacity, attention to detail and ability to drive matters to resolution, even under tight deadlines and competing demands.
You bring deep experience responding to regulator requests and investigations, either from private practice, or in-house roles, and you understand what it takes to manage these processes effectively, from evidence gathering and analysis through to clear, defensible written responses.
Your background may include litigation, regulatory investigations or disputes, and you're comfortable operating as the lead lawyer on significant matters.
Your leadership style is practical and hands-on. You set clear expectations, model high standards and lead by example. While you enjoy mentoring and supporting others, you remain closely connected to the work and take pride in producing high-quality outcomes yourself.
