Location: This role can be based out of any of our three locations: Sydney (preferred), Melbourne, or Adelaide. We offer progressive workplace flexibility arrangements which include hybrid working.
About the role
Are you a skilled Marketing Director who leads by example and can drive creativity and results within an organisation?
Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will have outstanding written and verbal communication; attention to detail; and strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand consumers and the wider market.
You will be responsible for all internal and external communications for Stone & Chalk Group, to ensure our reputation as a respected and trusted voice reflects the market position we wish to have against our vision, mission and purpose.
Critical to the success of this role will be to manage and deliver against numerous priorities with a strategic and agile mindset; as well as the skills and enthusiasm to ‘jump in’ and complete a large portion of the implementation work yourself due to the smaller nature of the team.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a small team of marketing professionals to prepare and manage all Group communications (internal and external).
- Implement a national multi-channel communications strategy to grow awareness and understanding of the Group’s activities, programs and products.
- Implement brand voice and maintain brand integrity across all platforms.
- Oversee campaigns (digital, video, audio and print content) to achieve strategic priorities in collaboration with leadership team members and business priorities, programs and projects.
- Establish and manage marketing and communications tools, systems, websites, templates and processes that are able to operate efficiently and effectively, reinforcing and strengthening the Group’s brands.
- Manage marcomms, digital and media budget, team capacity and resource management to ensure effective marketing strategy implementation, operational planning and achievement of key results.
- Manage external agency and freelance relationships/contracts as required to support communication initiatives and execution.
- Conduct knowledge transfer and competence development for wider groups to be able to successfully implement Group digital and physical branding, content and collateral.
- Drive operating rhythm to ensure adherence to plan, achievement of set targets, and sustainable and balanced level of activity to enable share of voice externally.
- Track engagement across various platforms and conduct market analysis to make data-driven decisions and feed regular updates to the leadership team and Board.
- Liaise with the Board as required on Group announcements.
Essential skills and experience
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
- 7-10 years experience in a senior communications role.
- Experience managing high performing teams.
- Experience being part of a leadership/executive group.
- Proven project management success.
- A bias to action.

- Interpersonal skills – provide strong leadership and demonstrate the company’s values and leadership behaviour framework. The ability to communicate, seek advice, be objective, think critically and work as part of a team.
- Innovative and results-driven – promote a culture of high performance with a focus on successful outcomes. Demonstrated experience engaging with a range of stakeholders, and in encouraging a diversity of thinking and behaviour.
- Technical skills – an understanding of all aspects of marketing. This includes content writing and creation, customer relationship management (CRM), social media marketing, search engine optimisation (SEO), public relations, design, email marketing, pay-per-click (PPC) advertising and automation.
- Analytical skills – the ability to analyse and review marketing metrics and trends to identify opportunities and threats.
- Agile and calm under pressure – able to adapt to a challenging environment where change is frequent and unpredictable.
Desired skills and experience
- Have worked in emerging tech or a related sector.
- Have worked in or closely with the public sector.
- Experience with Hubspot.
- Experience with Adobe products (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro).
- A keen interest in marketing automation and experimenting with new tools.
