About the role

Casual Events Staff play a key role in delivering high-quality events at Stone & Chalk Sydney.

Working across Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH), these roles ensure our events run smoothly, professionally, and in line with our brand values.

Casual staff provide essential support for after-hours events, curated programs, and external venue hires.

Key responsibilities

Events Assistant (FOH)

• Set up, pack down, and present event spaces
• Provide a warm welcome and engage with guests
• Deliver food & beverage service
• Assist with guest registration and administrative duties
• Provide basic audio-visual/technical support for presenters and events (training provided)
• Ensure smooth, professional event execution
• Act as a point of contact for clients and suppliers during events
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of event spaces throughout events (tables cleared, glassware refreshed, bins discreetly managed)
• Report maintenance or equipment issues promptly
• Support event logistics (moving furniture, signage placement, room resets)

Catering/Kitchen Hand (BOH)

• Assist with catering preparation and service
• Manage stock, supplies, and event equipment
• Work with FOH team to ensure seamless operations

Required Skills and Experience

Essential

• FOH: Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) required
• BOH: Food Handling Certificate required
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in customer service, hospitality, events or AV support
• Exceptional grooming and personal presentation
• A friendly, confident, and engaging personality
• Ability to work both autonomously and within a team
• Strong communication skills and proactive attitude
• Valid Australian work rights
• Flexible availability, particularly for weeknights and after-hours events

Desirable

• AV/technical skills
• First Aid certification
