Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Product Design team is composed of several teams that work together to help define, create, and deliver all user-facing aspects of the Stripe brand and product. Product Designers are strategic partners to Engineering and Product Management within a dedicated product area. In partnership with the product team, they help define the user-facing experiences our users encounter on Stripe products, then translate that thinking into a complete experience that can be tested, shipped, and refined. They are responsible for creating well-functioning and beautiful products and experiences that users love and are eager to recommend to others.

What you’ll do

Areas you could work on

  • Home, a tool Stripes rely on for company updates, finding people, teams, and important docs.
  • StripeOS, our set of custom tools for getting things done. We have our very own project management tool, Compass, which is integral to how we work and powers collaboration across all of Stripe.
  • Any number of Stripe’s many other custom internal tools.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality designs for the way Stripes get things done together by understanding the way we work, and how we ship to our users
  • Help us design the best project management tooling for Stripe—setting the bar for our internal tool as high as the best products out there today
  • Work across both the Collaboration Tools team and the many teams that rely on our tools to get work done to understand what they need most
  • Develop strong opinions about the way we work together at Stripe and feel confident pitching those ideas
  • Help influence the StripeOS roadmap by prototyping and pitching new ideas we haven’t even thought of yet, and gaining cross-functional buy-in
  • Focus on what you do best—whether that’s sketches, wireframes, prototypes, designs, or code—you’ll have the opportunity to sharpen the skills you’re looking to develop
  • Work in a highly collaborative fashion with the design, product, engineering, and project teams
  • Participate in design reviews and share your work regularly with design and company leadership

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • Has 5+ years relevant design experience at a tech, product-driven company
  • Has familiarity with different types of project management tools, and how they are used at large scale companies

Preferred qualifications

  • Ability to understand the different needs of many stakeholders and translate them into a single experience
  • Has worked on custom-built internal tools at a technology company in the past
  • Comfortable working with design systems, but has the ability to create high-quality custom UX when needed
  • Is skilled in explaining your work, process, and decisions to cross-functional stakeholders and crave feedback to help you produce your best work
  • Comfortable presenting work to senior stakeholders regularly
  • Bonus points if you directly helped design any internal tools at a large, complex company like Stripe

This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is C$128,000 - C$240,000. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. Benefits/additional compensation for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; retirement plans; health benefits; and wellness stipends.
