Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Stripe’s comms organization does more than the traditional: we produce films that get shown at festivals, sell over 300,000 books annually, run some of the fastest growing social media channels in tech, write talks and skits for external and internal events attended by thousands of people, build physical machines that track commerce in real-time, create podcasts in pubs, and much more besides. We believe in small, elite, high-taste teams and aim to run a tight operation.

What you’ll do

In this new role, we’re looking for someone to lead our small comms operations group, to help us keep pushing creativity while driving equal excellence when it comes to operational rigor and efficiency. This is not a typical operations role, and we’re not looking to introduce heavy process or to eliminate unpredictability.

  • You’ll be operationally ambidextrous: excited by both creativity and the pursuit of operational excellence
  • You’ll have deep experience building structures, processes, and tools for creative groups, for example as a COO in an agency or as an operations lead within an equally ambitious company
  • You’ll be detail-oriented and hands-on when it comes to process design, and understand the ways in which small nuances totally change how these processes work in practice
  • You’ll have experience of a range of different ways to allocate resources, build operational plans, and measure impact, but will be a first principles thinker excited to figure out what’s right for Stripe
  • You’ll be a lifelong student of group dynamics, with a toolkit of techniques to run planning sessions, brainstorms, and other ways to surface novel ideas and build cohesive teams
  • You’ll be a proven manager, including of early-career talent
  • You’ll enjoy advising, debating, and developing perspectives together with company leadership. We’re figuring this out together

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Head of Comms and the communications leadership team to drive strategy, operations and planning across the organization
  • Oversee the efficient running of the communications organization. Create processes and conditions that enable the comms teams to do their best work, efficiently
  • Partner closely with the finance, people, and partner teams to drive planning processes including investment decisions, strategy updates, operational plans, targets and goals (OKRs), and build our model for resource allocation and impact evaluation
  • Lead our exploration and creation of new AI tools
  • Write clear and concise internal documents, slides, emails, and Slack messages to summarize plans, priorities and results to drive alignment, inform, and lead change with effective communication
  • Bring rapid clarity to ambiguous situations, resolve them effectively, communicate decisions efficiently, and enable teams to move towards implementing solutions
  • You’ll fine-tune our processes and invent new ones, develop and coach our operations team

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 10+ years of work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a combination of program management, product management, business operations, strategy and operations, finance, and consulting
  • 3+ years of working directly with C-level executives and their direct reports
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Proven track record of defining and executing complex programs with global teams across multiple functions
  • Effective communicating at all levels of an organization from executives to project teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to establish strong relationships with stakeholders and senior leaders
  • A strong operator with experience making sound, data-driven decisions
  • Thrive in solving ambiguous problems and see opportunities where others see chaos
  • Relentless focus on users and solving for their needs and wants

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $183,200 - $274,800. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
