About the team

Financial Connections is building the data connectivity layer for open finance and money movement. We are building tools for individuals and businesses to seamlessly share their financial data with Stripe and the businesses we power to unlock new product experiences, receive payouts, and make payments. We empower ambitious global businesses to build innovative products fast and run their entire financial lifecycle on Stripe, and we want you to be part of our story.

Financial Connections is part of Link. Stripe created Link to reimagine how merchants and consumers do business. With Link, you can save your payment information to be used at hundreds of thousands businesses and you can connect & manage bank accounts.

What you’ll do

As the Product Manager for Merchant Experience within the Financial Connections team, you are the champion of our merchants’ experience. You’ll shape the roadmap that enables merchants to link and verify bank accounts, manage risk, build innovative products, and go live quickly across Stripe’s surfaces. You’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, design, data science, compliance, legal, GTM, and partner product teams, and directly with users ranging from self-serve developers to global platforms.

You will:

  • Define and deliver novel APIs and Dashboard experiences for open banking
  • Setting an ambitious roadmap for product development and expansion
  • Build novel tools to help businesses manage risk with Stripe
  • Continually raise the bar for reliability, latency, privacy, and product quality
  • Incubate new bets to scale our business and develop more value for users

Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap for Merchant Experience, prioritizing the most impactful work to ship what our users need in line with our business goals
  • Partner continuously with engineering, design, legal, compliance, support, sales, and marketing to shape product plans and ensure we ship comprehensive and frictionless experiences
  • Partner with GTM functions to bring your product to market and ensure we see adoption and growth
  • Be the voice of the merchant for Financial Connections and advocate within your team and across Stripe for your users’ needs
  • Discover net-new opportunities for our business and lead them from nascent stages to maturity

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • Brings 5-7+ years of experience in a product role (ideally working on API-focused products)
  • Has an obsession with product quality, specifically an intuition for high-performing, ergonomic, and long-lasting API design
  • Has strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for precise articulations of customer problems
  • Can put themselves in the shoes of their users and craft great experiences
  • Takes an ownership mindset and works on whatever it takes to solve problems and delight users
  • Can dig deep into the data, think from first principles, and deliver the right results

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working on financial products
  • Conducting product market research and building buy-in for product ideas from internal stakeholders and leadership
  • Experience building brand new products or working in a startup environment
  • Experience working with GTM teams to bring a new product to market
Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site have an 80% in-office expectation, and those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $178,600 - $268,000. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
