About Our Client:

They’re a Series A Fintech startup on a mission to help Australians buy their first home. With an innovative solution and a passionate team, they’re tackling one of the biggest challenges facing first-time buyers today. We’re searching for a hands-on Financial Controller who can help scale the business.

The Role:

This is a unique opportunity for someone to step into their first Financial Controller role. You’ll get to build a scalable finance function that grows with the business while taking full ownership of the company’s financials.

Reporting directly to the Founders with commercial insights, financial modelling, and tax accounting (including R&D tax incentive) you’ll play an integral part in the next phase of growth.

This is a hands-on role where it’s up to you to drive financial strategy and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide commercial insights to the Founders to support strategic decision-making.

- Develop and maintain financial models to guide business growth and performance.

- Manage R&D Grant accounting and compliance.

- Build and scale a finance function that supports the company’s rapid growth.

- Take full ownership of the financial operations, including AP/AR, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practices.

- Collaborate across teams to provide financial guidance and support operational goals.

- Drive process improvements and implement systems to enhance efficiency.

About You:

- Proven experience in a Finance Manager role with a scaling Fintech, or Financial Controller within a tech startup.

- CPA or CA qualification.

- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.

- Experience with R&D Tax Incentive accounting is highly desirable.

- Hands-on approach with the ability to roll up your sleeves and get things done.

- Strategic mindset with a knack for building scalable processes and systems.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

- Passion for fintech and a genuine interest in helping Australians achieve homeownership.
