Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities
Localise and implement the global privacy program in Wise licensed entities
Advise on the privacy aspects of Wise platform partnerships and arrangements with partner banks and financial institutions, including contractual arrangements
Support expansion activities for launching Wise products and services in new jurisdictions
Manage teams responding to data subject requests and data protection-related queries
Manage teams reviewing and assessing third party vendors, partnerships and the proposed data integrations from a privacy perspective.
Draft and review privacy-related disclosures for financial products, including fair processing notices and cookie disclosures
Manage the creation and review data processing records and compliance assessments, including data protection impact assessments
Support the development and implementation of privacy governance frameworks with key stakeholders in engineering, security and risk
Maintain data privacy policies, procedures and best practice documents
Develop and deliver privacy and data protection training
Support periodic global and regional audits of privacy compliance within Wise
Keep up with evolving regulatory requirements globally and translating them into actionable business requirements
Assist the Global Head of Privacy in responding to regulatory enquiries and investigations.
Draft reports for the C-Suite and Oversight Committees.
To thrive in this role, you will be a self-starter and a great influencer and communicator. You will be comfortable working in grey areas and making judgement calls at speed. You will be obsessed with detail and happy handling competing priorities and differences of opinion. You will have strong project management skills and be able to break through walls to get things done, collaborating with cross-functional teams to find practical solutions. You will have:
Excellent academic credentials. Minimum of 8 years privacy experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house
Significant exposure to data protection and privacy issues in the UK and Europe with an emphasis on use of EU/UK data in sophisticated market scenarios
Experienced in handling privacy inquiries, complaints and incidents
Experience in privacy by design and data protection impact assessments
Experience in dealing with data protection regulators on privacy matters
Experience in drafting and negotiating privacy related contracts and developing compliance and auditing frameworks
Excellent written and verbal skills in English
Admitted to practice law in the UK or equivalent jurisdiction
A problem solving attitude, with the ability to use regulation together with data to drive business decisions
Strong relationship management skills with ability to deepen relationships and build partnerships across the business, including in operations, engineering, and risk
Comfortable taking the initiative and working across multiple business lines and jurisdictions
An understanding of digital and consumer focused businesses, including new and developing businesses is also advantageous
Ability to drive and deliver projects from inception to completion, timely and with attention to detail
Experience (or interest) in working in a fast-growing environment.
Desirable
Relevant privacy qualification, such as CIPM, CIPP or equivalent.
Financial services experience is a plus
Experience managing a team
Experience of relevant technologies including data anonymisation, PETS, artificial intelligence and familiarity with ethical frameworks, data governance and accountability
