We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to join our API Experience team. You’ll lead and manage a team of engineers building the tooling and infrastructure that enables partners to securely integrate with Wise's API. This is a unique opportunity to shape the developer experience for major enterprise partners, directly impacting their success and accelerating Wise’s time to revenue.
You will guide your team to deliver a world-class developer experience built on three guiding principles:
Secure: Champion robust security measures like mTLS and JOSE to protect partner data and meet the stringent security requirements of banks and financial institutions.
Well-Tooled: Own the development of our self-service developer portal, streamlining processes for credential management and API monitoring.
Testable: Enhance our Sandbox environment to accurately mirror production, giving partners ultimate confidence before going live.
Proven experience leading and mentoring an engineering team, with a focus on career growth, delivery, and building an inclusive, high-performing culture.
A strong technical foundation in designing and building scalable, reliable APIs, an expert on Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
Expertise with modern API security standards, including Oauth and mTLS (mutual Transport Layer Security). Exposure to JOSE (JavaScript Object Signing and Encryption) is an advantage.
A strong product mindset, with the ability to understand partner needs and guide your team in building an excellent developer experience, including developer portals, webhooks and integration testing practices.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Starting salary: £100,000-£125,000 + RSU
