Start your adventure with Zip

As an Activation and Onboarding Specialist within our ANZ Merchant Optimisation team, you'll play a crucial role in supporting newly onboarded merchants, ensuring they are well-prepared and set up for success. You will collaborate with the ANZ Commercial Team to develop activation strategies tailored for SMB merchants. The ideal candidate will possess strong sales expertise, exceptional customer service abilities, a thorough grasp of payment processing, and the capacity to effectively manage and prioritize merchants who have completed onboarding. This role is crucial to increasing activations through key merchant lifecycle stages and the catalyst for Zip’s adoption into their business.

Interesting problems you'll get to solve

  • Take end-to-end responsibility for the activation, growth and retention of a defined portfolio of accounts with deep operational expertise.
  • First point of contact to a cohort of strategic SMB merchants for 90 days to provide end to end service alongside the Marketing, Product, Sales and Merchant Operation teams.
  • You will provide key personalised training sessions to best upskill and engage with the merchant to give them the tools and confidence to use Zip to its full potential.
  • Build and maintain exceptional relationships with key contacts within your portfolio of accounts to continue to drive the value of the partnership with Zip through activating key promotions and product set up.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to align sales efforts with marketing campaigns, providing feedback on lead quality and sharing insights from customer interactions.
  • Consultatively up-sell our products and services to new and existing customers, understanding their pain points and effectively communicating the value proposition to address their needs.
  • Manage merchant accounts and ensure smooth and secure processing of transactions, including account setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Address merchant inquiries, concerns, and issues related to payment processing, offering timely and effective resolutions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and other legal requirements related to payment processing.
  • Provide training and educational resources to merchants on payment processing systems, features, and best practices.
  • Support onboarding flows including but not limited to;
    • contacting merchant dealers/franchisees to activate merchant network
    • guiding through integration and implementation processes
    • training partners of Zip product proposition and best practice integration
  • Provide merchant support, including but not limited to:
    • Supporting merchants with all administrative tasks
    • Channeling merchant offers through to Zip marketing opportunities (e.g. deals page, social posts/app feed where relevant)
    • BPI (Best Practice Integration) compliance.
    • Monthly engagement and communication.
    • Executing growth + scalable merchant engagement strategies.
    • Supporting setup of extended IF promotions
    • Outbound engaging with merchants to expand their product offering (e.g. longer IF terms, Zip Business)
    • Cross selling Zip products

What you'll bring to the team

  • Knowledge of the payments industry, market trends, and competitor landscape is a plus and minimum 12 months experience in a similar industry is desirable.
  • Proven 12 months experience in inside sales, preferably in a B2B environment, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Minimum 12 months experience in merchant servicing and payment processing is highly desired.
  • Strong knowledge of sales techniques and strategies, with excellent negotiation and closing skills.
  • Proficient in using CRM software (i.e. Salesforce) and other sales tools to manage leads, track sales activities, and generate reports.
  • Experience in a results-oriented mindset with a strong drive to achieve sales goals and exceed customer expectations.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze sales and financial data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
